It's been a while coming!
I would like to know what type of ignition system this runs. By the look of those chassis plates, this is HEAVY.

LOVE IT...PRICE...and when will it be available! Ready to sell my Flux. Hoping they keep it under a $1000.

Looks like some changes compared to the photos here.

Really???? $1000???? How about making the hobby affordable. If we wanted to pay 1/5th scale prices we would all own a 1/5th scale truck or buggy.

Yes. Want.

But only when they put out an SS version with the 2-speed instead of the 3-speed.

I wholeheartedly agree. My guess is $899. with a street price around $820. It's going to be more than it's 1/8 electric/nitro counterparts.

Honestly, I do not think the price will be too bad,.......Why? Look at it. It's mostly off the shelf Savage parts. The only thing "new" is the engine, fuel lines, fuel tank, brakes (partly), rollcage and a few odds and ends. If this is going to be priced as high as some are thinking (850-1000), then HPI needs to get in touch with reality.

im betting it first hits the shelf at about $700 and then comes down a bit from there after the first wave is over with.
which is still way to high in my book. then again i think all the fuel powered savages are over priced. (and don't get me started on the flux. the price tag on that thing is delusional)

Ever seen the Baja 5sc?

Price is going to be high to start. Lots of development costs with that new engine. 699 is my guess.

As a matter of fact I have...and HPI is smoking some good stuff!!!! BUT to be honest, a lot of the high price in that vehicle is in the overpriced Castle Creations electronics.

As for a guess on price on this new beast.....I'd have to guess 700-800.

I'm glad I hear about this Savage Octane before I ordered an XL, as this will be that, with a better engine. But do you all think the Savage X is still a good truck to get? For just a little over $400 you can the X with all the starter accessories, and who knows how much this Octane truck will cost. And it may not be released for 4+ months. I need to get something in the meantime though, maybe a brushless Stampede even, then If I got the Savage Octane later on I'd have an awesome electric and a gas truck. I just don't want to buy the Savage X only to want the Octane one just a few months later. The Savage Flux is just do damn expensive, and for the kind of light bashing I'll be doing, I think the Stampede will be almost as fun. I'm so ready for a monster truck.

I just bought an XL kinda. It's an X, XL, or 1/5 depending on that chassis I put on it. Got a bunch of parts with it.

Had a Savage in the past, they are great handlers, fast, and very tough trucks. The 4.6 motor is probably the beefiest nitro motor I've ever owned. It's huge.

Engine kit

I wonder if HPI will offer an engine conversion package to go in another brand of truck? I have several Assoc. MGT's and would love to put one of these engines in a truck.
