Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, Illinois provided the location for the TrakPower 2013 ChiTown Shootout, but TrakPower provided the power for four spectacular wins and some classic racing action.
One of the best races of the weekend was the 1/10 scale Stock 2WD Buggy 17.5 Event. After TQ’ing the qualifier, Mike “Zippy” Ziolkowski won the A Main despite repeated challenges from the rest of the pack. Zippy won on the strength of a TrakPower 17.5T brushless motor and MS-1 ESC, as well as a 4400mAh ”Shorty” LiPo pack. Randy Cathcart turned in a stellar performance of his own. After TQing the 4x4 Short Course qualifier, Randy won the A Main going away, nearly lapping the pack at the finish. The TQ and win in the 1/8 Scale E-Buggy class went to Missouri’s Colton Kiefer. Like second place finisher and teammate Randy Cathcart, Colton was using a high-capacity, high-punch 6800mah LiPo pack with a hefty 70C discharge rate.
Congratulations to the drivers above, as well as thirteen year-old Reese McCowan, who TQ’d and took top honors in Rookie Class.
