Did HPi design this or is it a Ho bao rebrand?

seriously, HPI couldn't have at least changed the body?
lets face it, that's not one of the better looking SC body's out there. HPI typically does a good job on there body's.
this kind of surprises me.

and why are there like 3 threads of Ofna turned HPI releases and none have chassis shots?

i also don't see any HPI markings on any of them, but i do still see the hobao stickers on them. makes me think they didn't even bother taking new photo's.

they stopped making decent RS4 chassis's and therefor had no race cars.
sense then it's just been one halfassed attempt after the next. occasionally they do ok, the blitz and e-firestorm aren't to bad. but frankly they've just become detached from what "racing" actually means. which is probably why they are rebadging and distributing ofna/hobao now. ofna's had a halfway decent reputation on a race track.

I feel your pain, but you have to admit there isn't a TLR SCTE electric to run from the racing branch of losi.

4x4 you're right. that's cause horizon is stupid. those idiots will put out a truck, have the factory drivers race it, but call it a losi because it's RTR. yet the same damn truck in kit would get branded TLR.
so while the racing division doesn't have a 4x4 race truck. the standard losi division does.
can you say stupid?
stupid politics and idiot marketing, another example of how horizon is wrecking the team losi name.

i wonder if HPI will rebrand the jammin scrt 10? cause wasn't that distributed through ofna? in kit form id be tempted to grab one of those. idk why, but i kinda like that truck.

Hey Harry, Hotbodies has been the racing division of HPI for a while now. Lots of racing cars available from HB that are competitive at Worlds-caliber events.

hey Mr. Kent, will HPI be improving the instruction manuals as well?
cause lets face it, ofna/hobao instruction manuals suck

HPI saw what Traxxas was doing and wanted to get a bigger piece of that pie. Eventually the cars/trucks got diluted (last real race effort was maybe the Pro4 and R40), and the rest went to Hot Bodies. Guess its sort of like a Toyota and Lexus thing now.

Problem is, HPI is releasing a ton of cars/trucks and I have to agree that many are half assed attempts that don't really have more to offer over the competition (HPI Switch, F10, Cup Racer, Wheelie King, Trophy Truck). Then they get discontinued a few years later or HPI runs a big rebate promotion to get cars moving out the warehouse.

Quality versus quantity....

I miss the HPI of old. (late 90's, early 2000's)

LOl...You know I know that...but I am old school, I have an attachment to HPI....I would have no problems flying the HB banner, but no short course, 2wd buggy, 4wd buggy, none of the popular racing classes..and you know I would buy HB over a Losi any day......

And that's what I meant by my statement. And yes, I understand the direction HPI has gone. Fun vehicles, more money...But I still can't help feeling that if HPI had not gone away from their racing heritage...and used that heritage to build product recognition like they used to..we all would be better off.

I bought HPI non racing products because I had brand loyalty with the products I raced..not the other way around. Racing brings customers and brand recognition.

Look at LOSI after the break up. A bunch of play vehicles and a crappy rep. No one even remembers the name of their first "play" SC truck. And no one bought it either. Ask them how the new truck is selling or how they are doing once they made a commitment to getting back to racing. You think the blitz would have sold with no racing capability versus the other brands?

BTW, is HPI going to get the jammin' truck?..."cause I would consider that...

Now you know better than that...

It'll be that night you finally start it thinking "I guess they're not going to do it." As soon as you get the shocks built (I'm not the only one who does that first am I?), you'll get an e-mail about the new version.

Then you'll have to build the whole thing knowing you should have waited another hour.

At least that's how it seems like it works for me.

Quiz for you Harry

Q: Name the only 3 dedicated race cars ever released under the HPI brand name. (Out of about 80 sport category vehicles)

A:

Kent, Kent, Kent....Are we talking competition ready cars..as HPI used to say?...or cars that could not be used for any other purpose than racing?....Are you going to include the origina F1 and pan cars?....or do you want to stick to foamie cars not designed for sport parking lot racing?

because you, more than anyone, knows the original cars all had a racing pedigree and were "competition ready"..including the Nitro Rs4 and pro 3....

I need to think of the answer...but my first 2 picks are the r40 and proceed....and maybe the pro 4...but I have to think on that choice.

Thank You...

So let me expound on my theory......remeber the Pro 3?.......hara race that car, even though it was a sport pedigree..it had racing heritage. You can race a Losi 22 buggy, but you can also bash with it.....

and somewhere along the line, HPI cars went the complete bashing/sport route...with no racing capabilities at the club level, especially against the competition. where you could do both.....

Now, I would have no issue with that....if HB offered all the cars being currently raced in clubs around the country. SC, 2 and 4 wd drive buggy, etc...

hell, the Losi 4 x 4 is a sport vehicle..but quite capable on the track..and it has vaulted Losis' rep and business ten fold...

Thats all I'm saying..put the racing capabilities back into HPI cars.....

I know it's been answered but...

Pro 2, Pro 3, Pro 4, Proceed, 2 R40s, Super F1... I thought there was another pan car or something from the '90s but I can't find/remember exactly what. Maybe it was the Super F1 I'm thinking of.

Does the Blitz ESE count too?

I would say the Hellfire (SS anyway) but I think it was primarily a sport truck rather than a racer, even though it was a racing category truck. Technicality.
