I saw an adapter that would mount a sedan wheel. It was just a small al hex thing. A foam touring car tire (trued down) was on the radio in the picture. I don't remember the company who made it.
Thanks Jimmy, I knew they were available just didn't know where........I think Glenn sold out of Spec batteries Saturday.

Oh and for those interested... here are the 2005 TCS Rules. Hank, I dunno how far you want to mod up the TB02. But they have a new suspension kit for that car. Same suspension as the EvoIV and 415MS. Great for asphalt.

Hi there my name is Mike Sultzer and I'm new in this area. I wanted to know what kind of races u run and what days u run on, cause I have a TC3, XXXT, and an E-MAXX. I use to race in PA, but now I'm in Fayetteville, NC and I heard this place is the better of the tracks to race at. If u could send directions of how to get there I'll probably come donw this weekend.

Is the suspension kit you are referring to Jimmy the reversible LW kit? Let me know if it is, I probably will get it, gotta start getting them ready.
What do you think of the new spec class they offer? Might put Joseph in that. Gonna try the F-1 also. I'll see you Sat., talk to you then.
Another question, what roll-out were you running in stock? I think I'm pretty close on my car, but I checked Joseph's and I must have had serious brain fade when I tossed in his pinion, I'm ashamed to tell what I had in it, except to say it would have been good for 19 turn,LOL!
I'll see ya'll Sat,.............Hank
Hey Mike, welcome to North Carolina! There are three T/C classes running right now on carpet, spec, stock and 19 turn. Glenn, the track and hobby shop owner, has some info on his website also, www.glennshobbycorner.com, the address is there but not sure about direction's. Probably take 13 to Goldsboro, then 70 WEST to 581, 1 mile to Community drive, turn right, then go appr. 1 1/2 miles on the right. Everybody help me out on these direction's if I'm wrong! Look forward to seeing you Sat., great bunch of guy's to race with!
Gotta go,.............Bye

The track address is: 651 Community Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27530
Phone (919)734-7754
Just type the address in Map Quest, Expedia, Yahoo.. or whatever Map/direction program and it'll show ya how to get here. From Fayetteville there would be 2 ways that I know of... 95N to 70E to Community drive (and/or to 581 to Community drive)..... or take the "back roads" on 13(north) to 117(north) to 70(west) to 581(south?) to Community drive. Blah blah blah.. something like that hehe. Just click here
http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?ed=vfpIguV.winotwBVAfCvGtt0ek3NrG.Fgx0I. 3_fStCF.0wE8S8-&csz=Fayetteville%2C+NC&country=us&tcsz=Goldsboro%2C+NC&tcountry=us
Just give that a try Mike... or call Glenn (track owner) at the number above.
Hank, they make a LW kit for the Evo III and 415. But they have a brand new kit LW kit just for the TB02 and TA04. Just click here http://www.speedtechrc.com/store/ebproductdetail.asp?catmainid=264&id=4550 I dunno Stock Gearing... we'll see what ya had at the track and talk about it there.
Anthony, I have 2 Ultrabird 19t's here. They ended up being $53 a piece for dyno tuned version. The "untuned" version was $54?! I dunno why... so I saved a buck hehe. Anyways... I was gonna give ya the motor with the highest ratings.. but I looked at the timing... and the one with the highest ratings also had the highest timing.. haha.. They must have some huge mark up on these things. I swear they were only $30 a motor last year at the 'Birds.
Rumor has it that someone else just got a Mi2. But they didn't know that Joseph's Mi2 has special caster blocks from me and modded by Hank..... hehe... ;)
Anyways, I have to work Saturday til Noon. So I'll catch everyone there by 1pm. See yall at the track... Chris J.. don't forget my servo! :) I have some neat stuff to try out...

Ron, does your car have the old style front end or new? I hope new. Also.. you have a CRC huh... not so sure if that makes a good mod car from what everyone says. But then again... it's not like it's gonna matter anyways hehe. Do you have a TPlate car laying around anywhere?

Yeah, I ordered three pair of them this week, already got Joe's car ready.
If my diff ring's come in today I guess I'll be rebuilding my diff's tonight, as well as my motor's. Keeping up three car's doesn't allow much time for between round rebuilding,LOL.
Alright Thomas , just looking to try and redeem my mistake in that main last week! Happy Anniversary.

I got a couple of other motors to try out in it, and I can always take, (borrow) Jimmy's 10 turn if I need too, but I'm going down mostly to have fun regardless of what class I end up in. I know I'm no match for darn near most of the guys who'll be running mod GTP, but hey, someones gotta come in last!
I'm not sure if I'd wanna change the front end or not, but if I need too, I do have a whole new style one that'll go on the car. Could that be part of the reason I can't seem to keep up my corner speed? In Cary and Rosewood, I seem able to keep up on the straights, but get hammered in the turns.
nomac
01-07-2005, 01:36 PM
ron...so what seems to be the better front end for higher speeds? the "old" style or the "regular" strut style or the strut style with angled up-rights? i've never been good with tuning those front-ends. always prefered the trinity one. and now that i've been blessed with a pro-10 chassis, i wanna try it out.
axrayed... do you have any 1/10 scale pan car tires you'd like to get rid of? i'm in the hunt for blue or double purple fronts and green or grey rears. thnx. and i gave chris your message.
Pete - I dunno bout the 1/10th scale car but with 1/12th the newer style front end has been said to be better. I haven't run Mod with 1/12th but in Stock I like the older front end much better....
nomac
01-07-2005, 02:08 PM
thanks jtn...i still have a set 'o tires that mark gave me. i was thinkin, maybe if i find a chassis plate, i could construct another 12-elf scale. (and this time do it right. LOL). somebody's bound to have an old one collecting dust some where. i don't think they would throw them away after converting them...(would they???) anyhoo an old 6 pac type chassis would be fine. ya know...somethin cheap. :D

01-07-2005, 06:53 PM
Jimmy, yes, please. Now, if there was just some way to have data for lap time, steering angle and throttle postion on the screen..... LOL
About the C2, the same two motors that were ok outside on asphalt, suck on carpet. I must still be off on the gear ratio... I don't know. But I would like a tune up on one to rule out my tuning, it could be me. I'll put a fresh cut on the motor I used for the shoot-out.
JimmyMac
01-07-2005, 07:36 PM
Chance, just toss me the motor and I'll have a look see. As for throttle position.. steering angle... I was working on that.. but Tower sold out of that "unit".... ;)
Anyways... lemme head out. I haven't touched my car since race day... Gotta rebuild the diffs and tighten up the belts one notch. Oh... and add on a new toy... :D
Oh yeah... gonna bring out my 12th scale for fun. Gonna toss in a Mod motor this time though... 10single to be exact.... Any body know how to gear one? haha...

Been keeping up with the Novak Race as well.
19t for me. But I'm sure there will be Spec, Stock, and 19t Touring.
SedanRacer8... I don't really know how much to charge Spec packs at. Or the peak. I charge my GP3300s at 6amps. Peak seems to be different from charger to charger. Mine is at 20mv... but I it's rated different than yours since mine goes up to 90mv. So maybe for you.. hmmm 5mv? I dunno.. hehe.... what does the instruction suggest?
Anyways... working on the 415 right now...

I actually just got my TC3 diff rebuild kit in today. So now I can finish up the car whenever I get time.

Good racing by all saturday night. John North took Spec from the get go, but you guys might want to look out for the new guy, Rodney Perry. He turned 24 laps the first night out and should do better next time. I qualified third in the heats but got hammered in the main and did'nt complete a lap. Oh well, thats racing. lol. Cameron came in third for a good finish. In Stock, Laurie Willis took the win with George 1-1/2 seconds behind him. Chris J brought home third. In 19 turn, Jimmy Mac turned 29 big ones with Anthony on his heels and Chance on Anthonys heels. Lap times will show all three were screaming and a close race. Glad to see Kevin Mac back at THE WOOD again too. John North in 1/12 all the way and coasting to a 41 lap victory. Mark P taking second and Justin L third. Want to thank everyone for coming out to race with us at THE WOOD. Hope you all had FUUUUUUUUUUN! I will post the date for the WINTER BASH on the web site asap. Looks like end of FEB. After a totaly disgusting day like I had yesterday made me want to sell it all. I had all kinds of guys telling me about set-ups and stuff, but see, only a week ago, I took the same car onto the track and ran like I had glue on the tires. It was so hooked up, it was freaky. Yesterday, same car, set-up, temp, everything all seeming the same, and the car wouldn't go around a turn to save its life.
Regardless of how you all think I do or do not work on my car is irrevelant. Like I said, 1 week ago it was perfect(for me) and a week later, it's complete crap. This is why I get so worked up. I could understand if it was raining, or a temp change, or i put on new tires, or didn't sauce them or change battery position. I did everything the same as the week before and it didn't go right.
Anyhow,, after a night like that, today I go out to the "Factory" and run my 1/12th and low and behold, it's keeping up with everyone else! I didn't finish 7-8 laps down like always. Hey, I even led the first few laps in the main!! Guess I'll keep my illhandling TC one more week,,,

Yuck... looks like Debbies has RoadRails.. haha. At least they say it's only temporary. I'll wait for them to change it out before I head up there.
Ron, I dunno about the car. Maybe it was you? My car was unchanged for the practice run that I had and it was just fine like last week. But I changed it before racing started. How about sticking with one class and stop changing around. Especially goin from 12th scale to Touring. They both drive alot differently. Also, during the day when it's warmer.. the car has less traction. But as the day goes on and the carpet track cools off... traction goes up. All I can say is uhh... be alittle more calm when things don't go your way. :p
Who told you that Mark??

Also though it depends if i can get some practice time in. I am going to try to go up to cary one night this week and run some laps, then I will decide. Laurie opens up the track between 10~10:30am on Saturday. Glenn will have an open practice this Friday from 6pm to 9pm. If you could make it to that... I could help ya out some. What car did you get? Do you have a decent mini servo. The futaba s9602 is a great one for 12th scale. That's what I use. I saw that Glenn actually had one at his shop in town. But I dunno how much. A good servo costs money. But well worth it in the long run. Blahh blah blah... Catch you Saturday

I'm undecided about 12th scale for now. So we'll see. I don't want it to get in my way of tuning up my car for 19t at the Snowbirds.
As for the 29th... it's up in the air right now. I'd like to go... and I don't. If I went.. it would have to be after work on Friday. Then get there late late Friday. Then practice Saturday morning for a few hours for the race. Goin to the Snowbirds is taking up almost half my vacation time. The other half will more than likely be goin to Cali for the TCS Nationals. So we'll see. I'd like to stay at the Wood up until the 'Birds.
I'm also waiting to see when Debbies up in VA Beach hosts their first race indoors. Blah blah blah... hehe...

Dude, if you run the TC4 at the birds, I will have hours of extra time to dial it in for you. I will treat it just as if it were mine. The TC4 is much easier IMO to make changes to and quicker at that. Even though it's not a fun job, AE shocks are very sensitive to accuracy, so if they aren't bled just right, and each one is a LITTLE different, it makes a BIG difference on the handling. Look me up when you get there if you want help, I'm just running one class, so I have time between practices and on our "off" day.

Yeah, I told Ron not to worry. Brandon would be at the 'Birds with his car. And then there is Barry Baker and the rest of the AE Team as well. hehe. I'll give him a TC4 carpet setup that I have to start him off with. It's the Eric Derosiers ROAR Region 1 setup. Then go from there at the track.

Probably about an hour and 15-30 minutes or so depending on where in Durham you are at. Axrayed can give you a more accurate time since he drives every week. I know Clayton to Durham is 45 minutes, so add another 30-40 on top of that to Goldsboro.

Hey, all you Mini-T owners, if you bring it to Rosewood this weekend and enough show up, your cost to race them is NOTHING! That's right, Mini-T's race for free this weekend at Rosewood.
Also, There are quite a few people out there that own these Carisma cars of one type or another. If we can all get them out there, Glenn might do the same for us. There's Dee, Joseph, Rodney, Don W, Jimmy W, Tim W, Me, and I know there are others. Comeon, lets race something a little different.

For right now, I think it would be best to use the stock motors. or maybe the Losi speed motor. Too many out there with stock set ups and then some yoo-yoo come along with a brushless in it and blows everyone away. Remember, Rosewood is a LOT more OPEN than any other track I've seen Mini's on. If enough show up with both kinds of motors, then we can also split them up. I'd bring everything you have that fits it to make sure you get in the feild.

Terell, you're not getting one are you? haha... Depends which 415 you are talking about.. The 415.. or 415MS?? Mine is the original 415. If I remember correctly... I ruined my 30lap run in the 3rd qualifier by smacking the wall hard 2 times!! Nothing broke. The car is tough! But the MS is weaker. The weak part of the 415 is something that uhh.. Chris J found.. haha. He broke one of the 415 aluminum ball studs for the steering link. Other than that... I've never broken anything on the car. You don't need aluminum front uprights. Stock ones are just fine. I run rear aluminum hubs on mine. SpeedtechRC has them in stock right now. Part number 53687. I run them because the stock plastic hubs are 2degrees toe in. The aluminum hubs are 1degree. But you'll need some axle shims to take out the ton of play that they have. Click here and look at the axle shims http://www.speedtechrc.com/store/ebproduct.asp?catmainid=143
Parts, I get mine from www.towerhobbies.com , www.speedtechrc.com , and www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/ in Japan. There is also www.precisionrc.com in Hong Kong. All are trushworthy places to order from.
Arms (53427), steering knuckles (53579), caster blocks (50985), rear hubs (53428 and/or 53472), axles (53499), dogbones (53501 steel front and 53502 aluminum rear), and shocks (too many to list) are all the same for the 414, 415, TA04, TB02, and Evo III. The front bumper is Tamiya A Parts (50984).
Like I said, I haven't broken anything on the car. So I can't tell you what to get. But I have enough parts to build another (or 2) suspension kit(s). For you, if you are lucky.. I'd get the Tamiya A Parts bumper set. But they are hard to find. I can't find any myself. And get a spare Suspension D Block (51068), and Front Suspension Bridge Block A (53685).
If you were to get the car to race on carpet... then you'd need to build a front diff from Yokomo parts... and a center direct pulley (53708). Speedtech is out of the pulleys... but PrecisionRC has them. Then you'de need EvoIV/415MS front steel axles too. The list of parts you'de need to build a front diff is below...
YOKOMO ZS-501 Diff Joints
YOKOMO ZS-506 Diff Rings or Tamiya Diff Rings 50880
YOKOMO ZS-507 Diff Thrust Bearing Set
YOKOMO ZS-508 Diff Adjusting Kit
YOKOMO ZC-S100 Shim Kit (10.0mm diam) 20 pieces (but can do without)
(2) 5x8mm bearings
TAMIYA 51055 415 Diff Pulley
TAMIYA 53379 3mm Lighweight Diff ball set or any 3mm diff ball
TAMIYA 53708 Tamiya TRF415 Center Direct Pulley
TAMIYA 51092 Tamiya EVO IV 46mm Swing Shaft
Without them, you are stuck with an asphalt car.... Hope this info helps.

Jimmy is there an easier set up for a front diff. And about how much am I looking to pay for a set up like this. I sold alot of my rc cars and parts on ebay to get the 415. Yes I still have the Pro 4 which I am think of selling as well. But I need a stronger car not faster "stronger" , thats why I choose the 415 OG. I will not start race it until next weekend. I need another body and oh well. Believe it or not I got it as cheap as my Pro 4.

Cannot find any 3mm ball diff at a good price. Got everything else.
JimmyMac
01-13-2005, 02:32 AM
There is no easier setup for a front diff for the 415. Sorry. You could order an aluminum special made front diff for the 415. But it's in Germany and the guy custom makes them for like $80 for just the outdrives. Then you need everything else on the list for it. So the Yokomo diff is the cheapest way I know of. It'll be about $85 (if you used ceramic diff balls) to convert a 415 over to a front diff car (everything on the list). I had everything in my spare parts box to build one since I already own a Yokomo.
I use Xenon (speedtechrc) Ceramic Diff Balls. They come in packs of 10 for $17. I doubt I'll ever have to replace them for as long as I own the car. I'd be replacing diff rings.. not diff balls. That's what I use in all my cars. Even the 12th scale. Diff rings are cheap at about $3 a pair. Just flip them over and use them again. Then toss them out the next time you need to and get a new set.
You asked about a TA04r diff. Not the same. The 415 is a different car. Only the suspension is the same.
The 415 is tight on space. A nice short servo like mine is a must (futaba s9550). Or you may end up tossing the receiver onto the servo if you don't have a small ESC. Another thing.. the stock servo saver sucks. You need to spend another $5 for a Kimbrough Black Medium Saver (201).
Now if you want the car setup like mine on Saturday.. add about $78 more to the $85 to convert to a front diff car. Thats just for a "setup" like mine. Not including the tires I used. Not the body type. And not the wing type.
If you wanted a replica of my car... haha.... add severa HUNDRED dollars more to the price you paid for your car.. plus the $78 for the setup, plus $85 for front diff setup.
I think you might be better off getting an XRay if you wanted a tough durable, fast, tunable car........
Anyways.. it's late... gotta go to bed....

jimmy...i feel ya bro! bought my pro4 for $270. now i need to spend another $40 for a front diff...$13(x3) for suspension mounts...$10 for AE composite bones and $5 for another spur gear. that's nearly $85 bucks BEFORE the car is tunable to race! and not to mention all those square parts i wanna get. ooops..gotte get tires!!!can't forget those!!
JimmyMac
01-13-2005, 06:13 PM
Brian.. 3x6mm screws work good for motor mounting screws. Or any other short 3mm screw.
Terell... the pulley you are asking about is not a oneway pulley. It is a direct pulley... or (direct drive). It replaces both the center (rear belt) direct pulley and center oneway pulley. Click here and scroll down to the bottem to see it. http://precisionrc.com/cgi-bin/cart.pl?BR=TAM1&DT=2
Yeah, it's not like I spent all that money all at one time though. I had the 415 for almost a year. When I first got it, I ran it bone stock for several months outdoors. But now every month the car gets some neat new stuff. It adds up. For Christmas it received alot of nice Ti axles and bones! :) It's just apart of the hobby though. Customizing and Bling Bling. :D
Glenn.. the parts didnt' come in yet for the 3.5... I'm hoping tomorrow. I knew I should have ordered them 2 day like I always do... oh well....

Glenn, I dunno if the 3.5 will be done by Friday Practice. Just finished replacing my front belt on the 415. I think when I bashed it into the wall 2 times in the 3rd qualifier... the battery broke loose and hit the belt. The belt then flipped over and ran twisted like. Anyways... I replaced that, rebuilt the front and rear diffs, and tossed on a custom set of new caster blocks to test out. So I'm all set for Friday and Saturday. When the parts come in for the 3.5... I'll work on that.
So anyone read about where XRay is testing out several prototype cars in the US and
Europe? One of them is designed like the 415 with the batteries on one side and motor on the other.... I said to myself if XRay ever built a car like this I'd get one..... I don't want to eat my words.. haha... I did when the Evo IV came out. I said I wouldn't buy one unless if it had aluminum bulk heads and open diffs. When the Evo IV came out it had aluminum bulk heads and open diffs... haha... So I bought one.. .... Always wanted an XRay... but not with saddle packs......

John, the charger is the 16X8v6... due out sometime soon. I like everything about it except the charge rate. It only goes up to 6.5amp. I'm still pondering on it though. I've been eyeballing the Futaba charger. Cheapest I can find that is $360 in HongKong. But it's awesome. Tells you the volts of each cell in your pack. Discharge rate of each cell. 40amp discharge.. blah blah blah. Easy to weed out a bad cell in a pack. But I'm in no rush to get one. Been thinking about buying a new (real) car. But can't decide if I should keep the Miata... or use it as a trade in. Blah blah blah.. haha... rambling...

Had a good time tonight running what I thought was a junk car. Thank you Jimmy for the setup sheet to try out. I used almost everything on it, except for the few things I didn't have. Seemed to really help it out.
Ashley really appreciates the buisness you all gave her today, and she says she'll be there again next weekend. Any suggestions as to what you all might want her to get and I'll pass them along.
See you all soon,,

Good racing by everyone. Congrats to all the winners. Looks like the track is getting alot of traction!
Ron, you car looked good. I don't know how you drive it with that servo, but it looked good. Now if only I could get you to try out my servo for a change, I like to see what you think about it out of curiousity (sp?).
Laurie, you need to slow down your car! It was very very fast for the main. You had the fastest car on the track. I think I lost it when I slammed the wall and loosened up my steering linkage. But I think it initially started loosening up when I broke my steering turnbuckle in the 2nd qualifier. I think I may order some Ti ones. The 415 comes with Aluminum turnbuckles which is nice and light. But with a smack like that... they break very easy. Anyways it was a good, fun run.
Hey RON!, what day are you leaving for the Snowbirds? And what day are you coming home? I noticed that Justin L, Steve D, your name, and my name is now on the list. Trying to decide if I am driving down alone or if I'll hook up a ride with you and Steve D. Plus I need to put in my vacation days at work this week.
I guess I should head off. Gotta work in the morning...

Ron, read my post above. Oh and you still have my Tamiya (red) wheel spacers on your TC4.
Anyone wanna buy my Yokomo SD? Full option! Been thinking on selling it again just so I can concentrate on the 415. But I love that Yok! It's always been there for me!! I guess maybe it's withdrawls or whatever you call it. No asphalt... so it just sits there... waiting... and waiting.. hehe.
Glenn, I'll have the 3.5 out to you this week.
I guess I should head to bed. Doin laundry late again. But it's not my fault. Dryer doesn't wanna dry too good.
Welp.. L8Rz... gonna be a cold one in the morning.....

ps, someone I chat with on another forum is selling his brandnew in box TRF415MS (not same as mine but updated for asphalt... Laurie has one). It's goin for $400 shipped. Awesome deal I must add. Let me know if anyone here is interested in it.

Steve and I were planning (so far) to leave late Monday night or really early Tues. morning. ( Duuhhhh, same thing!!!) Not sure as to what we're driving though. My T-bird could handle another passenger, but doesn't get as good milage as his Dakota pick-up, but that one can only handle 2 in it. Actually, I'm hoping that I can borrow the OLds like I used to go to Maryland last year. Good milage, and more room than the T-bird. Words still out on that one though,,,

New door lock on the mens pooper. Does anyone know of a used projector for sale to project the image from the pc monitor. I know sam's has them and staples, but i'm looking for a used one. Let me know. Also if anyone sees Brandon Sulivan, ask him to give me a call at the store. 734-7754 I need to talk to him about the metal building built for his dad. Hoping to get the hobby store put in on the track property. The track will be open all day for practice then. Thanks.

What Ron.. I'm not driving down with ya?? Oh well... hehe I'd be driving the whole way down anyways if I came down with ya. :p
Well I broke/cracked the rear plastic window on my Miata. Stupid me forgot that the window hardens up in the cold, freezing weather. Needed a new top anyways... but I didn't wanna replace it till spring time. I still could. But now thinking on a new car... Who knows. May just order a new top with a glass rear window. Til then... good ole clear packing tape holds the crack shut hehe.
Let me head off... gotta plan out some stuff for the trip.

What a great idea! (the projector) Might be able to get a good deal on a lower end (in today's standards, but still a good one) on eBay.
Hey Glenn, here are a few links. I probably can find a few more tomorrow too. Most of these are either Refurbished/Used or Demos.

I would suggest you guys start another thread. This one is becoming so long that it may stall the back-up procedure, in which case this thread may get deleted or damaged. It's a good idea to start a new thread once it reaches 1000 posts. Just FYI. ;)

Whew... and I thought I was in trouble when I saw StevePond posting on our forum haha.. Hey Steve, by any chance can you change my screen name to JimmyMac ??? I guess we could start one here pretty soon.... need to find the track pics again and track info and start one up...
Glenn, I'll bring the 3.5 by the store Thursday.
Catch everyone else on Saturday. Gotta alot of new things to try on the 415.
Rodney... when is Cyrul gonna answer your question on the other forum?? hehe.. Also, have you seen the prototype pics of the new XRay? Looks even narrower than the 415. Reminds me of the Yokomo SP (belted car before the SD). Very narrow.
Anyways... I'm outta here. Oh... George, I don't think the shock caps will be here til Monday.... :( Along with a few other things I wanted to try this weekend. Oh well.....

Hi guys,
I just moved here the first week in July, and am shocked to finally live near a track.
Looking for information on Nitro truck (stadium type) racing if there is anythign locally.
I noticed there are tracks in Wilson, Rosewood and possibly Goldsboro, are these tracks going to be all road tracks, or are there any off road tracks?
What I am driving is a (pretty stock) Duratrax Maximum ST, stadium Truck, with a few add-ons but nothing outrageous.
I will be needing some assistance on setting it up for racing, and also keepingthe motor running correctly, as I have almost given up on the thing. It has set for the last 3 years almost untouched, because I was living in Germany.
Any help you guys can give would be great!
BTW, I will be trying to get my neighbor involved too, he has a battery powered car, but I don't know anything about it yet. He still has it packed up in boxes, since he just got here too.

Glockster35 -
Rosewood is primarily 1/10th on-road touring cars (electric and gas); outdoor asphalt during the spring/summer/fall, indoor carpet during the winter.
Thunder Alley in Wilson runs off-road once a month (next race is 9/23) with 1/8th nitro buggy, 1/10th 2WD nitro stadium truck (like your Duratrax), monster truck and 1/10th electric mod buggy classes.
Thunder Alley also runs a dirt oval every Saturday that runs a 1/10th 2WD nitro stadium truck class.
The Antique Barn (also in Wilson) has a paved oval and they also run a 1/10th 2WD nitro stadium truck class.
You can follow the link below to see more NC tracks.

Rosewood is as stated an OnRoad track. Hobby shop is at the track as well. You can at least get parts for your truck there.
Also, the current Rosewood Thread is now here http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?p=2072036#post2072036

Tim, Is Thunder Alley open daily for their off road course? I am not really looking to compete right yet (or maybe never), just looking for fun!

Thunder Alley is pretty much open daily. I think the hours are:
Monday - Saturday: 10AM to 8PM and Sunday 2PM - 6PM
I woudn't think there would be any issue getting on the track.
