How much timing is too much. A buddy of mine doubts that I could get my TC3 over 50 mph. I've got a 9x2 that is really wicked that I think could get me there. I normally run 5 degrees of timing so that I don't loose control of my car at the track. 20 degrees it what it came set at. The timing numbers on the can go all the way up to 45 degrees. I know running that much timing will eat the comm and brushes up pretty much in one pass but it is safe to go that high if I need more power to push my car past 50 mph?
The high gears that I have will let me go around 57 mph if my motor has the power to pull them.

Just change the gears. Any motor can get there it's just a matter of time.

My 21T single has the timing advanced to 30 degrees and I don't notice any major comm or brush wear.

Pushing your 9x2 hard will probably heat it up like mad. The problem is getting it to speed... that's when most the load is placed on the motor and the ESC and the battery. You risk harm one or more of the above items if you push it.

On that note, gear it higher, and go for 65. You only live once, and anything you break/fry, you'll be able to replace. Added to that the story you could tell...

"At about 70, I saw smoke...."

I ran around 25 degrees on my 11x2 D4. The motor didnt get too hot, so I think u should try at around 20 degrees. Good luck
