hey soya, about your stampede, did you make that rear skid plate, or did you buy it? (if so, where?) also what motor do u use in that thing? isnt it a little heavy w/ all that aluminum?
Soya v1.1
03-04-2003, 07:58 PM
I made it. I used to use a Speedgems 16T and a D4 16T. The chassis is actually lighter.
tamiyajoe
03-04-2003, 08:05 PM
dam, you MADe that chassis?!?!? man your GOOD! lol anyay, nice truck. btw: how are those front arms? hevier/lighter than stock? good investment?
Soya v1.1

They're slightly heavier than stock, but they definitely worth it.

My best truck is on the bottom of page 10,but this is a 4wd truck with independent suspension, and is considered a monster truck(even if it is a radio shack),so ill include it too since its an ok truck.
cummins driver
03-09-2003, 07:37 PM
Here is one showing the suspension travel. Not to bad for a radio shack. It has good power too. Will spin all 4 tires on black top if you tie a wire to the rear bumper, and hold on to it.I like the tires too.My stampede is still my favorite though:D ;) .
ViciousKnives
03-09-2003, 07:48 PM
hey, that actually isn't that bad. wouldn't have expected that much from radio shack. does it use a 540 can motor??

Viciousknives, thanks for the complement.I talked to someone who has the same thing, and he took it apart and said it had a 540 motor in it.I like it pretty good, but i just wish it had hobby quality electrics in it.It goes about 10 miles an hour which isnt TOO bad for a radio shack. It is the only thing i have to drive right now because i stripped the gears in the steering servo on my pede:rolleyes: (it was kinda my fault). The radioshack ways about 7 pounds which helps it pull, and it wheelies like crazy too. SOYA V1.1 ,thats an awesome radio shack! What was that originally called(name). How fast is it? Does it climb good?
Soya v1.1
03-10-2003, 08:34 PM
It was originally called the Enforcer. It doesn't climb great, mainly because it's so freaking tall:p
cummins driver
03-10-2003, 08:44 PM
Is it very fast? Do you know how long it took him to do it,and what kind of motor and electronics it has?
Soya v1.1
03-10-2003, 09:45 PM
It has an AE Stealth tranny, 1 Titan, kinda slow.
ViciousKnives
03-10-2003, 10:03 PM
i wonder how radio shack trannies are built and how much punishment they can take. i'd like to see a nice modified motor or brushless motor in one. heh, and Soya, wow, that radio shack has more articulation than some of the monster trucks out there.
cummins driver
03-11-2003, 04:48 PM
Im not sure if you are talking about the front and rear differentials,or what VICIOUS KNIVES,but my radio shacks have held up pretty good so far.Sometimes,on that truck in the picture, when i go from wide open forward to reverse, the rear end does a wheelie, and the front differential will make a popping noise, like the gears are slipping, but it only does it some time.It doesent really have a tranny, the motor is kind of built into the rear differential/driveline.The differentials have plastic gears,so im sure they could only take so much for so long, but id say they are actually built fairly decent.

Simple, they might get dirty but usually you only need a dry paint brush or air gun to clean them off. Unlike a nitro that gets dirty, oily, and greasy from the fuel, dirt, exhaust etc. Not to mention with electrics you don't have that huge engine covering 75% of the chassis.

but do batteries last as long as nitro? (15-20 minutes)

us electric monster truck guys generally have solid axle monster trucks that look more realistic to a monster try way more then any electric independant supsenion truck (emaxx included).
as for run time, i get about 12-15 mins on my clod with stock motors and a 3000cell pack.
converting a txt to nitro... that has already been done. i seen one somewhere on this board. it had a .21 something.

i think im gonna get a electric monster truck. i suck super bad at tuning, and its too expensive to buy nitro. plus i want a rock crawler. but the only problem is, i dont know the first thing about electric vehicles:( . whenever i see an electric vehicle in a magazine i always skip the article....

RC Jack what truck is that or is that all custom? Its really awsome how does it perform? Do you have any videos? I love the Ram body I am going to have to get one of those! It looks like a big mod clodbuster with a nitro engine. Sweet:cool:
RC Jack
07-23-2003, 03:44 PM
DubDucedDurango, the entire truck was custom machined from the ground up and it runs GOOOOOOOOD! No videos yet; the vid cam that I bought has to go back, so....
BTW, this Dodge Ram body (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3139718584&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:US:1) is on eBay. (There are no decals on it, everything was airbrushed in) It's much too small for my truck and makes it look higher than it already is and it's too close of a fit on the rollcage. All of the lines on this Dodge Ram are more authentic & realistic than any other Dodge Ram out there. I do, however, have another body coming that may look even better. Too bad, tho, 'cuz I've been a Dodge man for more years than I care to think about.
HUGE (1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 and bigger) pics are at this link - www.geocities.com/gstarwin/savkill.html
I have a lot of pics on that site. It's good for wallpapers.

RC Jack I have bid on the Ram body because that paint job is sweet. I was wondering how it was attached to your truck since I don't see any holes in it? Its a pro-line body for a T-maxx right?
RC Jack
07-24-2003, 12:33 AM
DubDuce, the body was never attached, so there are no mounting holes. It's an HPI Dodge Ram for a Savage, tho, it will fit most any monster truck, seeing how there are no mounting holes. BTW, Chris modeled the body on a T-Maxx, so, you'll have a good idea of what it will look like on a T. I think it looks more realistic...as far as detailing goes and actually looks like a Dodge Ram. Chris Duze from Teamduze (http://www.teamduze.com) did an outstanding job painting it and should get the credit for it....or blame. :D It took about a month of looking for just the right pattern & colors to come up with that. Right now, Chris is in the process of doing another "show-stopper" body for me...and this one does fit!:D
As Chris told me, he hated to let that body go, because it came out so well, considering what he had to do to achieve those results.

that is a bone dry stock jugg 2? it dosnt look like it would take THAT much to make a crawler outta it. i thought it and the clod had plastic chassis and all sorts of crappy stuff. how much cash-money dose it take to have an ok crawlin jugg2
Chase023
08-01-2003, 03:15 AM
This isn't bone stock but mostly stock. Has factory upgrades only. It isn't much of a crawler as this state.
Probably a decent way to go is buying like an Full ESP kit to start off with, or buy a set of shocks and new and longer 4 link suspension parts only from different manufacturers.
Once I am done with this you will be seeing a total different MT. A Jugg but a revamped Jugg.

ok fellas, i'm loaded with questions here, think you could help?
i'm looking a monster truck and i thoguht i had my mind made up b4 for i saw this post and some of this CRAZY trucks.
i like the ek-4 but i dunno if it has good suspension travel or ground clearence. and i dont think it was reverse
the t maxx is to boring, everyone has one,but at least it has reverse
i like the mega force and mad force, but i dont know much about the mad force's
2 link suspension, will it have good articulation and soak up bumps? does it have reverse?
The savage cant wheelie so i kinda dont like it
any opinions or help would be appreciated
way back on page three i saw a old bruiser with a purple ford body and some crazy tires! they look just like the super swampers i bought for my dodge! who mkaes those?
thanks a bunch,
Shane

i cant give comments on any of the nitro truck's performance that you have choosen, execpt that the tmaxx is over done.
i'd go witht he madforce since it has a unique 3 speed tranny and chain drive.
if you want a scaled monster truck i'd go with anything that has a solid axle (clod, jug, txt, madforce, xtm). these guys pretty much have an unlimitless amount of possibilities.
the independant suspension trucks are more really over sized touring cars with bigger tires n a truck body. (call me biased)
its really about preference here and what your gonna do with it.
challenger440-6
08-01-2003, 04:12 PM
hmmm. what are the advantages to solid axles? i know on REAL truck the get way for flex from solid axles.
R6905
08-01-2003, 07:28 PM
solid axels have less ground clearance. and if you run into something, you have to spend a lot more to fix it.
Brandon
krisI.925
08-01-2003, 08:00 PM
Not really true. Solid axles do generaly have less ground clearance depending on where you messure it from. From the middle its about the same but most 4 link suspension trucks will have much greater ground clearance in the center. From the lowest point solid axles are limited by the size of there tires.
Also most of the most durable trucks out there are solid axles. And when you dont break something it usually isnt that expensive or cost nothing to fix. When ever I break something on my TXT-1 its usually a ball end the just pops off or something. Nothing major.
Basically what it all comes down to is that trucks with 4WIS are built for speed. Trucks with solid axles are built for running over everything and killer looks. I agree with RX78. Most 4WIS trucks are just oversized stadium trucks. I too would go with the mad force. The 2-link suspension doesnt provide as much articulation as a lot of 4-links do but it works very well by relying on torsion flex so theres not any torq twist and the truck is lighter.
challenger440-6
08-01-2003, 08:13 PM
hmm. thanks for you help.
the mad force is biggere then a maga force, right? but mega force has 4WDS and a .15. do either have reverse and are either rtr?
challenger440-6
08-01-2003, 08:22 PM
the mad force is basically outta the question because it need electronics, i was trying to avoid buyin electrics with a ek-4. i found out that the mega force is RTR and 15. but does it have reverse and can it wheelie?
gotta have a lil bit of that wheelie-ing torque:D
challenger440-6
08-02-2003, 02:53 AM
ok it's really coming down to the mad force, ek-4 and possible the maxx.
I'm looking for a go anywhere offroad machine that can articulate(suck up a soda can)
gotta be fast
wheelie-ing is good
gotta be strong as hell so i can jump and bash all i want
reverse is a big bonus
RTR would be nice
any ideas?

the x-factor is sounds like just what your describing. Comes with a 24.7 engine so its fast powerful and im sure it can wheelie. It has 4 link cantailever suspension so it can jump and climb with the best of em. Also comes ready to run with electronics. Im not sure if it has reverse or not tho.

Here's a new pic of my Savage, I put a Picco .26 in it, and flipped it over a couple of times with enough force to crack the Hummer H2 body in several places. Plus, the slides on the roof ground down the SUV body posts! So, this is the new Dodge Ram Crew Cab body from Proline, made of .06 Lexan, the thickest of all Proline bodies, plus it's got great details! I wanted a quick, but good looking paint job, so I used a splash mask from Proline, and airbrushed it in. I'm happy with the results, very quick and easy.

nitro... The secret is to do it while they are out of the house.
Back in the day when I raced, I would take apart my car after getting home from the track and then the next day while MOM was at work, I would slip the parts into the Dishwasher, set it on Heavy DUTY WASH and the car was just like new.
Hot Pressure washed Clean. Better than any hand cleaning I could do.

Took me 45 mins to get through all these pics, but i must say it was very worthwhile, and ill be posting of a pics of my tmaxx pretty soon, nothing special its all stock with a picco 15, but im going to find a lotta mud where i can just make it dirty,
Dishwasher idea: I tryed it once, when my parents werent home, just put the tires in there because i couldnt get inbetween all those grooves, i was taking it out as my mom and dad walked in the house :p , not a pretty site, not a pretty site at all, my dad was just laughing hysterically and my mom was pissed, i was just there frozen with the tires halfway out the dish washer. stupid idea, but hey i got clean tires :D

Oh? What issue was that? I want to see it! :D
The TXT body was painted by an artist who goes by the name "Moskito". He used to have a website but it's gone now.

Looking good Kmot. It seems the clear body isn't easily available, as a personal scheme would be nice. I'm running my carved out stock body mostly with the ST wheels. The ND definitely is wide body, and has potential on various trucks...

Hope these pics come out.. This is my first quick paint job. It's done with neon modeling paint splattered on (5 different colors) then i backed it with silver on the front and back 1/3's and white on the middle 1/3. The picture you can't see that part. Working on a 39' Woody now will post later. Could use help from anyone on attaching photos? Please help...
