electric motor shuts off tooo soon

hello ,

I decided to get into electrics after years of glow/Gas powered models. I chose the Impress from Wattage. here's my setup Hitech flash 5 radio, Hitech Micro 555 reciever 2 hs-55 micro servos wattage Ic-30 esc 30 amp with brake and auto cut off and an 8 cell 600 mah 2/3 battery pack as recomended by wattage.
The problem is the motor only runs at full throttle for about 45 seconds before shutting off. Not being familiar with electric power I assumed it was because the motor got too hot and shut itself down. When I tried to launch it the motor shut off. You can imagine what happened next. well the plane is repaired now ready to fly again but I cant get power long enough too sustain flight do i need a bigger battery? what would be best?
I have a glow enginge just begging for this plane!

Hi Augerdin,
It sounds a lot like your battery is not getting much charge. The ESC has an automatic motor cutoff when the voltage gets low and this will shut the motor down with a weak battery. If you have some way of measuring the battries voltage, especially when it is running, you can probably track this down.
