I have heard some talk of putnam GM3's and P2K's and also putnam brushes. Is this a company like Fantom or something? I have heard people say they are good brushes or motors etc. Can someone give me some more info and where I can find them? Thanks!

WEll how do they compare to reedy 767, 769 and trinity 4499? Also fantoms high silver brushes. Are they really worth 5.50?

Losiman:

Putnam brushes are real popular with oval guys and some tc guys. They come in red, green, and blue compounds, indicated by the color of the shunt. I believe red is the mellowest compound. It is similar in wear to 767's (maybe a little easier on the comm). The blues and greens are higher silver content, but I'm not sure which is the softer of the two. I'm planning on playing with these quite a bit when my lathe comes in, but until then I'm sticking with 4499's since I seem to be able to get more than 7 or 8 runs between cuts without too much wear.

I run off-road. I think I might try some too. Post your results here when you get them.

Putnams are very comparable to the Fantom's.
Nearly all of the oval guys here use thier brushes, and many have their motors. Many say the putnam brushes have an advantage over the Fantom's, but I think its mainly what your LHS carries.
I have a Putnam P2K in my RC10L3O at the moment.
Also, Putnam motors have the track records here.

The Putnam brushes are very good brushes. The Red shunts are the highest silver content, hardest on comm. Most use the Red on positive and green on the negative.
Reds - highest silver, Green - med hi(Reedy 767) , Blue - low silver more like the Reedy 760.

high roller you have it backwards the reds have the lowest, blue is medium silver and the greens have the most silver. most people use green on the pos and blue on the neg as a polorized brush system.. albie

Albie's right I got the colors wrong.
Should have been GREEN, BLUE, RED.
Sorry for the wrong information.

I've used Blue on the Pos side and 766 on the Neg side of my P2k with good results. Red spring pos and Green Neg. Also don't forget to align your brush hoods and use teflon shims in the motor. Zoom zoom.....
