ok so I was at associated's website and i looked at their internet specials. There is a deal to get 2 Reedy batteries and get a free LRP quick and easy digital charger....

I took them up on the offer and for $80 i had a charger and 2 3000 batteries on my way. When they arrived i noticed they were NiMH batteries...it didn't say this on their website, it didn't say what kind of batteries they were...

anyway, would they include a charger that doesn't work with their batteries? seems not too smart to me...what happens if I use the charger with these batteries? what do i need to do to take care of my batts?

thanks,
slyk

I would assume the charger would be compatible. Which LRP charger is it?

Take a look at the directions, that might be able to help you..

btw.. all 3000's are nimah...

I went to TA site and looked at the combo. You will be fine, they say the charger is good for NiMh's. You do have to use caution with NiMh packs and use the correct charge. When Nicads charge they peak and then the voltage starts to drop telling the charger to stop charging them. Nimh's are different in that their voltage peaks and levels off, does not drop. So you have to have a charger that detects that or Nimh's will overheat and explode.

If it makes you feel better keep a close watch on the pack when you charge it touching them often to check for excessive heat. Don't worry until you touch them and feel like you are getting burned, then they are to hot. Don't do the rookie thing and keep re-peaking them once they are peaked, they will eventually explode.

As far as care for Nimh's you don't have to discharge them like Nicads. I've read that if you don't plan to use them for a week or more it's best to discharge them and put a 20% charge on them. That's all I do, other posters may have some better tips for you.

I assume you are prepared for the DC only part of the charger, sounds like it requires a battery or power supply?
