I want to get some conversion rims for my cars to fit tires like the Pro-Line "Speed Hawgs" but don't know what rims work with my cars and those tires. I want a more "realistic" look for my cars yet still be competitive. I've seen some tires and rims that are replica NASCAR tires and rims but can't remember were I saw them. Anyone know where? Please help.
Thanks AMMOACE

The tires and wheels to which you're referring are not going to be competitive at all. They look slick, but they're not designed for competition, at least on oval cars. Hobby Tech (http://www.hobby-tech.com) makes wheels and tires that would give your car a nice scale appearance, as long as you can adapt them to the 10L3O, but you're going to need to switch to radials or foams for competition. I would suggest the AR767 wheel and the Goodyear Eagle slicks for display purposes, But you have to find adapters to fit them to your pan car.

As far as the radials are they any that really stand out in performance? The foams that I have right now are OLD and they spin REALLY easy. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/mad.gif I want fun tires to burn down the road and then some race tires to practice and race with. These cars are my first experience with on-road action.
Thanks for your help. These Pro-line look like what I am looking for. But only the body is on thier page. Does anyone know what type of rims and tires they are? http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1549711&a=11857500&p=42723821

The tires above don't look like they are foam so are they belted? The rears look like they fit the 10L series hubs. Do belted tires give more traction than foam? Do they last longer? What, if anything makes them better?

Those look like Jaco radials with Goodyear stickers on them. Some fo the sticker sets have those decals for the tires, though they're generally just used for display - they tend to fly off the tire during a race.

BTW - I got your email. I'll respond as soon as we dig out from the snow! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/eek.gif

Steve,
Do you know if they will fit stock rims? They look like what I want but appearances can be deceiving. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/wink.gif Sorry to bug you so much but I have a budget and will have to order them on line since my LHS is a closet of a machine shop. Not much of an exaggeration. HEY Speel chek worts!! LOL

Maybe I can help while Steve and them dig out of the snow.

If your going to race on a concrete or asphalt oval track these radials will stick. They have to be warmed up though. These cars on a track will generate some very high speeds, and you need the radials to hold up, foams don't usually work on concrete or asphalt tracks. If your running in a parking lot or racing on carpet, then you want to get foams.

The radials come mounted, you can buy foams mounted or unmounted.

I will be racing on a flat parking lot oval. Basically, the track consists of four corner dots and pcv pipe laid out in the shape of an oval in a very large parking lot. I have been running with foams but want the most traction possible. I was thinking that a soft compound rubber tire would be better than a foam tire in durability and traction. Just an unexperienced racers theory based on nothing but limited observation of how my current foams "work." I am looking for pre-mounted tires if they are foam. From what I have read on this BB the foams seem to be a PIA to mount yourself. As Far as rubber tires if they mount similar to BT-Maxx tires then it doesn't matter if the are pre-mounted or not.
I guess if I go with foams then I need to now the difference in compounds and what makes a foam tire "better" than the others. Any suggestions? I would check with my track but I am the pan car there. I will be racing Touring cars and converted off-road cars. By the way I will also be running my LS on the infield road course also.

Steve,
Thanks for the information. I guess I need to work on learning to drive and quit blaming the tires. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif Besides the looks of the car will not get it to the finish line first will it? Race quality, high traction, FOAM tire ideas anyone?

It doesn't really matter what type of tire you're using. Foams are the tire to use on a flat track, but in this case, it doesn't matter because to get that "scale" look of having the Goodyear tires, it's only a decal. None of these tires have the colored logo molded into the tire, it's just a decal. You can stick the decal on the foam tire as well. But, like I said before, the decals are not likely to stick in a racing situation, so they're best left to a set of display tires.
