Looking at getting a 4x4 eletric over the winter. I have heard both the Yokomo and HPI are both good. Most likely I will not be racing, but I still would like the option of racing. Has anyone had expirence with both of these? I could also use some info on ESC's. Are the ESC's with multiple profiles useful fo this type of R/C car? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I think you should get a Hpi RS4 MT because there is tons of upgrades for it, its cheaper, and it isnt a pain to get to the belt.

Please.
I have the RS4 MT and the belt is all but impossible to access for general maintenance. That belt tensioner HPI uses on all their cars just plain s*cks rocks.
Also HPI can't seem to stock parts for ANY of their cars on a consistent basis.
Both trucks are good bashing machines, but none is better than the other.

I have a RS4 MT and I love it. Was impressed with it enought that I when it came time for a racing touring car, there was no hesistation before getting the Pro2. I have no problems oing maintenance on the truck, my LHS stocks a lot parts for HPI vehicles and there are enough online resources that I can pretty much get anything I need for it. The MT is a good tough truck. I do on road racing with it some, and it is very easy to drop it down to a lower CG setup for on road racing, and then lift it back up for off road.

What do you mean 4 feet in the air isn't what you meant by "off-road"?
