It will make a nice practice body for a Bulls fan. We are going to put it up for sale, as we don't have an STR truck to mount it on.

Thanks guys...I got the front bumper and the blower scoop trimmed and mounted last night, along with the front and rear decals (too much detail to paint). More pictures to follow before I deliver it to the owner.

On a nostolgic note, I used to LOVE these Chevelle SS trucks. Two of my friends had them back in the 70's, one with the 454 motor, and I have to say it was the scariest muscle car I ever rode in. They are still pretty cool, even if only in 1:8 scale :D

Dave that mini body is SICK. I REALLY like how you shaded the pinstripe around the wicked flames to give them a metallic blade look. AWESOME affect that paid off. Excellent color combo as well. Great job.

window frames and the contrasting outline on the edge of some of your artwork
On the bug for example, you outlined the windshield and side windows in black and the rea window in yellow and the black artwork in silver.
Do you cut the mask freehand? it looks so uniform in width.

Yes it's freehand cut in liquid masking with an Xacto knife. I was tutored in the style this way:

1 draw your design
2 cut your first line of the design
3 wipe off the marker lines of the design
4 eyeball the width of the pinstripe you want, and just cut a second parallel line next to the first.

after a few tries it gets easier to keep the gap even, and the lines straight. you just have to find a method that works for you and practice it until you are comfortable doing it. The lines are never perfect when you freehand cut, so just avoiding major flaws should be the goal at first.

For perfect stripes, you can use vinyl masking and have two lines drawn on it before you stick it inside the body, or precut them and use transfer tape to move the entire mask into the shell. I find that method too much hassle for RC painting.

The greys are mixes of black & white, with a little blue in the lighter grey.
Red mixed with black for the trims.
Alclad II magnesium for the gas cans and grill.

Is this one of the super thick baja bugs off of ebay? I have two of them I bought the last time Nigel produced a batch but I have been hesitant to paint them due to the rarety.

I contacted teh owner and he said it was an HPI Baja Bug shell. Discountinued.

I will keep you in mind....I get maybe one request for a brand logo per year.

RCLogos alos did my little +CBD+ masks when I first started painting, so I go back to them without thinking twice. They used to be the Majestics RC company.

That did turn out really nice! I have a vinyl cutter, but sometimes I find it takes more time to create the vinyl mask than to cut it by hand. Unless you doing the same thing more than once. But that rclogos.com has some great prices! I'll have to remember them. $2 for a set of mask would cost less than the half hour it would take to make some of those.

I have to say imitation is flattery, and I used PaintMonster Mark T's design for that body, and changed the colors around. I have someone asking me to do it for them now. It will also be going to Australia.

I am posting to say how sorry I am that the past few months have been more than I can handle, with work, family matters, and personal business.

Leadtimes for paint has extended far beyond anything I ever imagined due to demands on my time. For this I am truly sorry.

I am seeing the light, but am still far from getting out of the tunnel.

If I have your job in queue, please be assured that I am working on them as time allows.

If anyone has concerns about lead time, or wishes to pull back their orders, please contact me.

I regret that this bubble of activity has me overloaded. In the future I will be more aware of the schedules and will strive to avoid lengthy delays.

To those of you who have waited for me to get to your jobs, THANK YOU! Your business is valued, but your patience and understanding is appreciated even more.

Until this current backlog of orders is completed, I will not be taking any new orders. I will continue to quote any work requested, but the pipeline is full until I can take care of my current commitments.

I custom airbrush just about anything you can think of - from motorcycles to helmets to guitars to golf clubs! Just got back into R/C after about a 20 year absence. Here's my first attempt at some custom paint - it's a Pro-Line Jato Body, along with custom painted stock wheels, painted shock springs, and painted bumper/battery box/wheelie bar/front A-arms. Mod-wise, I've switched the filter out to the new one that comes with the new version of the Revo 3.3's. It's much bigger and flows way more air. I put an outerwear pre-charger around it (the body had to be modified and cut open a little more so the bigger filter fits). All the fuel lines were upgraded, installed an in-line fuel filter, upgraded wheelie-bar wheels, tuned pipe, sleeve ported/polished, on-board temp sensor/recorder. Lots of ventilation holes in the body as well. Runs like a demon!!! Let me know what you think about the paint, I may start doing R/C bodies for $$$ along with everything else I paint....!!
