I think I'm finally ready to buy a touring car. Had been looking at AE TC3 & TC4 FT cars. Then after a little reading of posts and replys XRAY seemed to be the way to go or maybe HPI pro4 ( like the shaft drive). As for xray is the older T1 FK 05 a good car or the T2R a better car. I have servos, receivers, transmitters, and the brushless I took out of my MF2 ( M-troniks sport and fieago 9T [very good on higher voltage]. Been eyeing ebay for rollers, used you seem to get alotta extra parts you can use,but looked at T2R new is $200, if they have it. What do ya'll think for parking lot bashing at work, racing at a local place and maybe going on carpet at thunder road, they alternate weeks with oval and road course, what would be the best choice.Just looking to run road course at TR. Am I overlooking a car or am I looking in the right direction? Let me know your opinions!

If your going shaft drive go FT TC4, another new car too look out for is teh FT TC5 which is belt driven.
Xray have very nice cars, however parts are expensive, especially compared to AE parts...
IF running hot brushless motors you may want to avoid shaft driven as they do Torque steer with these motors (although i run stock an my FT TC4 is plain awesome!)
Good luck with the purchase

Bought a xray t2 007 off e-bay should be here this week. Will see if it's all it's cracked up to be.My mf2 with a lehner 4200 could hang with a AE TC 4 on MM 7700 on our track. I really want something to handle the power of brushless and lipo. We'll see.

Go with the Xray. I had a pro-4 last year, and while it's great on asphalt, it couldn't keep up with an xray on carpet. It's a fairly old design now anyways.

Actually, before you buy, consider which cars your local hobby shops will support with parts. XRays of course are VERY nice cars, but if your local shops can't or won't order replacement parts for you, then you'll be in for some MAJOR headaches(& this applies to ANY brand of car). For racing, the first thing you should do is check out shops in your area & see what brands of parts they'll stock or readily order, & then you'll be able to narrow down the list of cars to choose from. Trust me on this, I run a Tamiya TRF415 MSX(which is also a MARVELOUS car, imo, best handling car I've ever had in my 18+ years of racing), but I have to be VERY careful about keeping myself stocked for parts, because my local shops don't stock that stuff & it's not all that easy to order them(so many times every distributor is out of parts), & it becomes pretty frustrating hunting for what I need(but if worse comes to worse, I also have a TA05 that's as tough as a TANK & handles well to boot, so I can keep racing if neccessary). So take your time before choosing a car, & you might ask the local fast guys about setups & related stuff & through them you'll see what cars are best supported there as well....

Received the car yesterday got it up and moving today.Put the largest pinion on that I could fit. Car was a bullet on a dead IB4200. Agrevated at the m-toniks esc, while trying to set it up for the transmitter it changed ( I changed) the punch control. Might be a good thing though? Will see what parking lot wars bring tomorrow at work!As far as support parts I'm used to gettting them online myself. LHS is usually a miss thing.

Xray vs HPI huh? XRAY is by far superior parts and machining.

Yes, but you usually aren't breaking as many parts racing onroad. In the year that I had my pro-4, the only part I broke was a rear a-arm, and that's only because I was going through a sweeper on a carpet track and another racer pushed wide and hit me, sending me flying into a wooden wall/barrier.

Got the xray T2 007. Ran one lap at work and hit a wall ripped the rear arm off. Luckily that was one of the extras that came with it. It was hooked up good until then.

thats true, but as you said, you can only race so well, you cant assume noone else will crash into you.
with my FT TC4, so far in this season (and about 2 months of last season) i have broken 1 rear arm, 1 front hub and one front arm...BUT the total cost of those repairs came to...$8.00...and the last time i broke something was about 4 months ago...so the AE TC4 is a very tough car in my opinion, i have driven away from crashes most people thought the car to be totaled! (i clipped an Apex and took off full power into the wall at the end of the straight...big crash, no damage, kept driving! - True story)
i will admit the overall quality of components of Xray cars is very good, but thats not to say cars like the TC4 are bad..far from it.

I looked at the TC4 FT, boss has one Just all the talk about xray had me sold. I bought used and paid about what you'd pay for a TC4. Was back up and running today and ran against the TC4. We were fairly even him on foams me on rubber.I'm waaayyyy under geared. It's quick, tops out in about 20 feet or so and starts balloning the tires enough to rub the body. Initial thoughts is it handles very well with the carpet setup still on it. I did turn the rear down stops up a bit for more ground clearance.I'm very pleased with the car. A few tweaks and some more gear and it'll be good to go.
