I don't know about pinions or spurs, but I would recommend getting a Team Orion machine mod or a Peak Stratus some where in the 10 to 14 turn x 2 range.

My sugestion is get a Peak Stratus form stormerhobbies.com. they are 29.99 with bullet connectors. They come in 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 19 all X 3. As for what one it depends what you want and what your doing with it. If your just playing 14T and 16T would suit the T3 well. If your racing it depends on the track. And remember what will your ESC handle?

I run a Trinity D4 HVS 12x2-turn on my T3. That motor is just slightly more than your budget. Like the others have said, you can play around with the pinion gear, depending on what you want to do with your truck.

I normally run an 18-tooth pinion on mine with the standard 87-tooth Spur. Geared that way, it gives plenty of low-end power and the high RPM of the motor still allows for decent top end.

I've got mine running on a Sonic2 10x2 & 13x4. That thing really hauls *** !! I am faster than my GT out of the blocks, but it is faster in the end.
