How do I get my motor brushes on my Speed Gems 2?

I have never had to mess with putting brushes on a motor that didnt have the little clip on them so they could be screwd in place. I have my Garnet all trued and ready to go, but I got brushes that dont have the little clip thing. So where do I solder them? I have the motor wires on the pos and neg side of one half of the motor, and then the capacitors on the other side of the motor. Where do I put the brushes? Do I put them on the side of the motor where the capacitors are on?

I do have a P2K pro, but that one has the brushes soldered on the oppisite side of the motor as the motor wires, but it also doesn't have any external capacitors. I'm confused! Help! 5 years of electric R/C experience doesn't help when you never experience this kind of thing!

The brushes only need to be grounded, so you can solder them anywhere on a metal part of can. I would just solder them near where the clip holes are, soldering is much better than using the screws anyway. Heh, no one knows everything about RC :) Everybody will get stumped by something or another! Hope this helps.

Thanks. So, I can solder them anywhere? So, I should put them ummm, at the bottom of the motor tabs on the opposing side from my motor wires? I need the screw dont I because that holds the hoods and everything together. I think.

Okay, there should be 4 screws on the top. The two that are between the + and - tabs are the ones that hold the top onto the can. The two that are closer to where the brushes go in don't hold anything except the brushes. I wouldn't solder the brushes onto the tabs, it might be okay, but I haven't seen anyone do that at our track. Most guys just leave the screws in(just in case your next set of brushes has the eyelets) and solder their brushes near them.

Well, they are soldered on the tabs on my P2K. I will try to get that goin in the next few days I guess. The Garnet seemed to perform better than my Topaz I have right now. Thanks eveyrone.
