Okay, I've looked around...I know it stands for Pulse Code Modulation and that's it. My question is...can a PCM controller use AM crystals? My buddy has 2 AM Futaba Magnums's that he would like to get rid of and just use 1 controller. He doesn't want to buy more crystals(he already has 5 crystal sets :) ) so he would like to reuse them. So if he bought the Futaba PCM, would he be able to use his old crystals and receivers? Or would he have to buy new crystals? One of the guys at the track said he would be able to use AM crystals, but I can't seem to find anything to support this claim. Thanks.

No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that PCM transmitters use FM as a carrier , & I believe that they need dedicated PCM crystals to work, so he'd have to buy new crystals..... :(

The answer is no. The Futaba 3PJS PCM & 3PJFS are FM only. Trust me, been there, tried to do that

Ah, I thought as much. Hmmm, we'll see what he wants to do now...
