Any one here run the 600 size Johnson motors in the E-Maxx? Any MT? With a EVX?.

are the Titans not 600's?
I doubt johnsons would be better than Titans...just seems like the TItans are designed for the purpose where as Johnson motors are more...multi purpose.

Oh ok, my bad.

What you gain with "bigger" motors is torque and you lose RPM...personally not played with either motor so may be worth experimenting.

The 600 mills I got are the same around as 550s but 1/4 -3/8 inch or so longer. I have nothing against Titans but 20 a pop. So I bought 6 550s(4 long shank and two short) and 2 600 can motors to test. The long shank 550s Johnsons are more of less Titans or run the same to me. I have not tryed the short shaft ones yet. We let you all know about the "big blocks" work out later today.

Well from my first run I will say they(600 size mills) are better then stock Titans. I got 25 or so minutes run time(IB3800 6c) consitine of crawling/full bore play. The last 10 or so was in thick grass as tall as a Maxx with 40s on it. Motors where very warm batts lightly warm EVX bairly warm. So for 3.96 a pop they are a Heck of a good deal. My gearing was 15/66.

Thanks RrR for the info. Brushless gets all the hype, but brushed motors can make good numbers.

Will be testing with 18/66 gearing today.

Well looks like the 18/66 is a bit much for the 600's. They ran hot but my truck is very heavy and 40's weight a ton too. Now with a stock weight or lighter Maxx I would say no problem.

I know that this isn't the topic of this thread, but can 540 size motors be run in the E-Maxx? I want to get an E-Maxx, but with the limited number of 550 size motors, I'm kinda' worried about the amount of upgradeability I will have on the motors. I know that there are brushless motors out for the E-Maxx, but my budget won't allow that. Yet.

Also will a long 540 or 550 size motor fit in?

i mean like the diameter is the same but the length of the motor is longer like a lehner
about 7.5cm

i don't mind if electronics have to be moved but i want to know if you need to cut anything could someone just check please?

The 540's will fit, their the same diameter. Their just alittle shorter then the 550's Titans.

I ran 2 Peak Dynasty motors in my E Maxx, just to see the power comparison between the Titans and 2 19 Turn motors. They were alot faster then the titans, but had NO TORQUE what so ever. It took alittle longer to get up to speed because of the lack of torque but was much faster when it got up to speed. The motors got really really really hot after 1 pack which was about 20 minutes of non stop onroad track racing. I couldn't even keep my fingers on it for 1 sec. So that was my test.

My conclusion. Don't put 540's in it because your will fry it....unless you gear it really low, but then I still won't know what will happen because I never did that. You can gear it low and let us know what happens, but just be careful and check the temperature regualary when testing. I also ran the EVX and never it shut down or got hot, It got warm though but thats about it.

Hope that helps.

If you're referring to a "Speed 600" like from an aircraft gearbox, they're the same size as our car "540" motors like P2Ks and other mods/stock motors.
Car 600s are I believe what came with the USA-1 stock :) I have a pair of those in my clodbuster. They work nice.
540s arent rated for your evx because the resistance is lower in the wires internally due to the shorter armature. Stay with 550s :)

The 540's don't like 12-14 cell current, not because of the speed controll,
just alot of current.....

I run that kind of current in my clod but it is only good for a couple of passes before you need to shut it down, and let it cool for 10 minutes or so,
it will throw winds, and eat brushes.

Now you could run the packs in parellel, (7.4 volts) and run some 8 -9 turn motors, and fly, and last, longer than what a 540 can stand at 14.4 volts...

-Eric I was talking about Johnson 600's The same ones on ebay marked as 650 long motors. The USA-1 had 550 mills called Maga 360s AKA MagneticMayhems
