You proberly get this questions alot. I read the article on the 2WD
shootout and I still haven't made up my mine which one to get.
I want to get the Losi XXX-T but they say that the steel turnbuckles have tiny flats that
strip easily. Which should I get?

yeah use the search lol you should but i like the losi stuff the best and would buy it one the xt was faster than the t3 around the track and with hop ups you should get even more t3 crushing performance

If that's all you're worried about, get the XXXT anyway, because the first hop-up is always titanium turnbuckles. Problem solved. I sure love mine.

Whoa we get like 3 of these post's each month......lol :D
Throw in about 30 bucks and get some Lundsford Ti turnbuckles.....Problem solved just like Nairb said. Don't get the cheap knock off Ti turnbuckles. Next hop-up in my book would be the Losi Aluminum Heatsink motor plate......your motor runs cooler just watch where you place your hand when going to pick it up from behide... OUCH!
Another plus would be to pick up some Trinity Aluiminum pivot blocks for the front and rear.

I don't own a soldering station but I don't think that I will need one, tell me if I am worng? I am getting the LRP F1 Pro Reverse that already has the connectors on it and the Orion Orbital 2 Pro BB motor that also has the connectors on it. So do I just connect the connectors and no soldering required?

The Lunsford Ti turnbuckles are awesome! I picked some up last weekend. Soldering Iron is a good thing. I had some clips I used to clip my motor wires on to my motor, bad idea. They held awesome but they were added resistance. Sudering the motor wires on directly is a good thing.
But when taking the tabs off, dont spray yourself with sauder. And wear eye protection... I had some sauder land right under my eye, I dropped the iron and it burnt a hole in my countertop  while I washed my face. My mom hates R/C for some reason now...

I have a nice t3 in the buy/sell trade/ form.
But it sounds like you should get a xxxt. :)

I would recommend getting a soldering iron. It will become an important item in your toolbox as you progress in rc. The first upgrade I would recommend on any car is to switch from the white tamiya connectors to good connectors. I like dean's plugs, but there are others. Most important upgrade I can think of, except maybe bearings.
You will also use the soldering iron for replacing brushes, adding capacitors, etc.

I have been reading other forms like this and most, if not all say get the XXX-T but teh only reason the say that is because it has drives smoother than the T3, but the T3 comes with MIP CVD'S and the XXX-T comes with steel universals. CVD'S are suppost to be better but how well do the steel universals hold up on the XXX-T? :(

I don't know specifically on the xxxt, but universals hold up well. Their just heavier then CVD's and aren't rebuildable so if you break one, you have to replace the whole thing which is usually around $20 to $30 instead of a $5 to $10 CVD part.

Hey you got that mixed up. It only cost about 10 bucks at the most to fix the Universals.
Personaly i have CVD's on my XXX-T and can not tell a diff between the CVD's and the Universals. Some say its a tuning option, but i think other wise.
The CVD's where last on my list for my XXX-T, i got full graphite...all the little Aluminum parts from Trinity, threaded shock bodies and a Ton of other hop-up parts before i even though about the CVD's. In my opinion they were a waste of my money, i didn't notice faster lap times.....and the pins really got me P'ed off at first, but thats fixed now.
If you like the FT T3 with all that Factory hop-ups.....then get it. These trucks are pure racing machines and have championships under their tires.

Ok, guys, just a question, why do some of you think that the T3 is better than the losi?, you state what losi has to offer, but no info on the T3.

The T3 is a great truck. I've used my friends losi and i didnt like the feel. I had more control with the T3 and its great with jumping. my friend broke his losi xxxt on a jump while my T3 passed it easily. i'd reccomend the T3. :D

I love associated models and have a few t3's.
The t3 is a very nice truck, but the xxxt is newer and the people like new things. If the xxxt had been out for three years and and t3 just came out the conversation would be turned around. Basically what im saying is that people like new things. Both xxxt and t3 are supurb trucks.

Hey Both are great truck and yes the xxx-t is newer but the T3 in factory trim is very nice. The truck that I own is a T3 and I love it the only thing that I have to say about the Losi is that is is a little bit more dialed in out of the box, but the T3 just need's a little bit of tweaking to perform supurbly. Also the T3 is about 3 or so ounces lighter so it is very good for stock racing. ANYWAY it is the driver NOT the truck. Happy Racing! :D

You say to get the XXX-T becasue it is smoother when driving. The best thing about the XXX-T is that it just came out and it will be a couple of years till it is out of date(new version out) the T3 has been out since 1997 and more than likly the B4 will be out soon followed by the T4. Does any know if Associated will have an conversion kit for the T3 to go into the T4?
The Losi XXX-T Dirt Spec looks and sounds pretty cool but can any tell me what bearings are required for the Dirt Spec so it has full bearings?
