I have a supervee 27, I've purchased a octura x440. Now I get the prop home and I see it says reguires sharpening and balancing. Can I do this my self, and if I do can I damage any thing if its done wrong.

you can balance and sharpen props all day long! i think i have a few that actually took that long :eek: you'll need a file, some sandpaper (220, 400, 600 grit), and a balancer (i like the TopFlite model, myself). i think it's good to learn how to do it this way, then later you can move up to dremel tools and getting into mod's n' stuff. i'll see if i can find a link that has good directions for you.

you can use the topflight balancer on 3 blade props.

Hi chesterslew,
I read on another thread here (can't remember where it was)
If your prop is stainless steel, no worries
BUT
If it's bronze, It's made from BC (Beryllium Copper)
Beryllium is known to cause Cancer!!
wear a respirator if you are going to let the dust fly
