Batteries are rather durable...
Usually a motor is more sensitive to heat than anything...if you OVERGEAR (big pinion,small spur) a motor the coatings on the windings can burn off and poof (smoke) instant junk.
I've only seen problems with Tamiya conectors, and burning overgeared motors motors...and fully charged batteries shorted out.
The "hi-performance" batteries that I use lately (stock metal 3000) they just get hot only charging at a modest rate of 4.25 amp and a sensitive peak threshold...
heat isn't good but Icing a pack nowdays is WORSE!!! I do know some people who put packs on cooling fans when they are done runing but this isn't necessary either.
Your senario sounds fine...wate till you start running 10 turn motors that causes some heat...
