I think it is STRATOS, not STRATUS.
The Stratos line appears to be more expensive then the Gems line. This could be due to a better motor, but they are definately in differenc price classes.
A quick search on the internet resulted in these prices:
Gems Series: $28
Stratos Line: $45

That is a $17 difference. The Thunderbolt line from Peak seems to be more in the same price range at $30.

I do not know the differences, and I only searched two internet sites. It does not appear that Peak has a website. I would actually like to know the deatils on Peak's line of motors. Anyone ?

Aurora

The all new Aurora is based on the TOP black teardown with dual ball bearings and G9 wet magnets housed in a 1.4 mm thick can topped with an endbell that incorporates two sets of brush hood heat sinks along with dual brush dampers. Surface mount capacitors are pre-installed in the endbell so no additional capacitors are required. Each pattern wound armature is epoxied with a high temperature resin to guarantee no internal movement. The commutator is connected to the coils using a high temperature silver alloy and then diamond trued for maximum conductivity.

Each armature is epoxy balanced on a high tech dynamic balancer to prevent magnetic field interruption. After expert hand assembly the spacing in the magnetic field is checked, race tested brushes and springs are installed, and the completed motor is tested and evaluated on our custom dynamometer to make sure it meets our rigorous standards.

The Stratos shares all the same features as the Aurora, but uses a non-pattern wound armature and welded connections. Long wearing brushes, performance springs, and bullet connectors are standard. heres my info beat that

Well, it appears $45 is a crappy price !
I looked it up at http://www.horizonhobby.com
I guess I won't be shopping there anytime soon.
Horizon has been overpriced on other stuff as well. BUYER BEWARE !
Haha, and this is the company that just bought Losi. Oh brother ...

Have to agree against the Gem. I had a 12D, it was blazing fast in my downgeared RC10. Well for 2 packs that is untill the endbell melted down. Where's a goo place to get the others?
