I just picked up a 1963 corvette 1/10 lexon clear body. I cut it to fit my car/ I also cut out the windows to give some air when I'm runnung the car. My question is this: I know that I have to paint it on the inside. I am going to go with somekind of metallic blue but I want to run some white stripes. Do I mask off the stripes and paint the blue or do I paint the white stripes on and then just shoot the blue over everything? Thanks for any help. Also should I completely mask off the outside of the body so as to not get overspray on it or will that come off easily without masking.

most bodies today come with a protective film on the outside of the body still some don't if your dosen't have the film you can use saran wrap to make your own just stretch it out over the body and use masking tape to hold it in place where needed. on tip use a blow dryer to heat the plastic while it's on the body to get it to conform a bit better.
as for the painting you'll want to paint the blue first let it dry then paint the white racing strip then back the white with silver if you want.

Just painted the blue with spray cans (probably should have invested in a airbrush for better results) I have the outside covered so I can't really tell if it came out allright or not yet. I just removed the tape from the striping and on had a few bleed throughs but not very much(I'm happy with that anyway)
I'm going to do the pinstriping tomorrow and when that drys I will post some pics(unless it comes out really bad)
When I see some of the work you guys have done I'm kind of embarassed to post a pic of this depending on how it will turn out. Maybe there should be a post with some absolute failures of pait jobs just to show it does happen to the best of painters. Maybe it will be a confidance builder. :)
I never get good results with spray cans no matter what I'm painting with them.
If I pick up a airbrush should I stay away from those with a can air type and go right to the small compressor type? Thanks

Invest in a small compressor...even the smaller "pancake" compressors you can get at Sears or Home Depot for around $50 are perfectly fine for airbrushing.
(Broken record time) Look at an Iwata Revolution CR airbrush; for $65 it's the highest quality tool for the money in that price range. Visit www.dixieart.com for details.
I do recall seeing a "trainwreck paintjobs" thread somewhere, but it might be on another site/forum.
