I just started racing a 10L3 Oval w/ an ADX 4-cell chassis in a 4 cell Stock class on a 150' flat carpeted oval. I turned 49 laps,in a race, without a rear wing and a broken steering arm for the last 6 laps. Without the broken steering, I probably would have turned 1 or 2 more laps(track record is 54 laps). Would a rear wing help? Most others are running one, but if it isn't necessary I don't want to add the weight. Thanks.

I'm no oval master, but I can tell you that the although the fastest guys on the Snowbird Nats flat oval ran rear wings, there were plenty of competitive racers who only ran the stock spoiler inclued with the body (Protoform Pontiacs were the favorites). It all depends on your setup. If you've got enough rear traction without a wing, I would think a rear wing would only slow you down by creating aero drag as well increasing rolling resisitance due to excess traction--but please, get a real oval guys opinion! I'm just guessing here.

If you think you need more traction just take the wing off of a buggy body. But I did this to my TC3 ( I screwed up the wing when I was cutting it out) it ended up being too much traction. Just try different steups. And I do run oval.
