Hi all

Thanks in advance.

I have a nitro buggy. When i push it down towards the ground the suspension does not push it back up. Any ideas?

Its happened to me aswell. Could be more than just one thing. But what happened to me was that the piston in the shock cylinder was twisted/bend so it didn't move without binding. That happened cuz I didn't tighten the piston right. But I only think this can happen if the pistons are secured with bolts and not e-clips. It could also be that the piston rod is bend. So disassemble ur shocks tjeck if Its bend, or if the piston is twisted or bend. Just a slight twist or bend on one og these and ur shock wont work properly.

Good luck dude

also check that the piston is not actually rubbing against the shock case, some shocks are not built very well and cause rubbing. Also if you have low quality plastic pistons the could bind as well.. you should try to get good nylon piston to see if it helps.

Welcome to RCZ!

You didn't specify what type of suspension your buggy had. For the most part, it doesn't really matter, but you'll have different components to inspect for damage when rebuilding.

What you should probably do is remove the shock and first visually inspect it for obvious damage. If it seems to be alright (and especially if it doesn't), you should look at the actual suspension assembly. Pick it up and see if it falls back down under its own weight. If it doesn't, it's time for a rebuild! If you have pivot-ball suspension, the pivot balls are probably dirty, so remove them and clean out the hub carriers. Also (and if you have a typical c-hub suspension) remove the arms and clean the hinge pin bores out, and roll the pins on a very flat surface to determine whether the hinge pins are true or bent. Replace bent parts as required, put it all together, and with any luck your suspension will move as freely as it did when new!
