Hey my brother bought the Tamiya FRP chassi for his car and it made for a better handling and it maid it lighter and stronger. You can try that along with
Throtl Hapie Ideas.

Bearings first. Then ESC, then a better motor, start with a stock motor. The p2k is good. Then get some decent batteries and charger (like duratrax 2000's and an MRC superbrain). After that you should try experimenting with different shock oils, springs, and tires for improved handling.

The Skyline tuned gear set is also a must have.. The torque spliter is also good... just go to www.tamiya.com (http://www.tamiya.com) and look up all the optional parts for the car, you will be surprised at how many there are.

If you're lookin' for aftermarket parts i.e. aluminum rear suspension arms, they're extremely hard to find! unless anybody knows of a great site that has em leave me a link...

another good hop-up is the speed-tuned gears... although there is a slight diff in speed but it's decent :D

Just to let some peeps know... i am a TA03 & 02 fanatic... hmm i got 7 03s... is that enough? ;)

NO! You should get more. I think they look cool, I want to get a ta03r. I have a ta03f Lancer Evo V, I love it!

I got a TA03R, but I don't use it anymore. I took the radio out of it and put it in my B3, cause I think offroad is awesome!

If I ever upgrade my radio and speed control, I'll probably put the old gear in the 03 and start driving it again.

Hi guys.

About a year and a half ago, RCCA made a project Wide-Track F-150. The main chassis and the top plate seems to be made of carbon fiber, but it is not mentionned in the part list. Is it what you are refering as FRP something or it's a different hop-up ???

Another quick question : I know the TA02 have gear diff in front, but what about the rear diff : ball or gear ???

tanga

thanks guys!

Marnat,

mine is gear but im planning to make it ball. :)

The 02 kit i got had gear diff in the front and ball diff in the rear...

Hmm i should get more 03s... they're actually fun to drive...

Hey they do have a carbon-fiber kit for the 02... but GPM sells it... but it will take a special order for it... (correct me if i'm wrong guys)

Hey if you want to really trick out your 02... why not put the front-one-way gear diff? i'm sure it will handle well... i put a front-one-way gear diff in my TL-01 and it handles great!!! :D Hmm i should buy another 02 and try that  if anyone thinks that's cool, let me know.... ;)

i dont think anybody mentioned this (i might have missed it) but whenever ive read reviews of tao2 based cars, theres always mention of the shaft that runs to the front gearbox being flimsy. so i guess a stiffer shaft would be a good upgrade?

i think my car is too heavy, i want to reduce the weight. what will i do?

TA03 Drive Hard
05-29-2001, 02:15 PM
Hey that's what i was lookin for... cause i know Kose made tons of parts for the 02...

Hey Billy... what kinda motor and esc you runnin' in your 02?

Billy

Im running a trinity greenmachine 3 pro with an old team novak 410-M1 high frequency megafet esc handles 4-10 cells down to 13t motors it maybe old but i have never had any problems with it been thinking of getting the novak explorer2 like the push button setup.

GPM makes an aluminum drive shaft for the tao2. Tanga get the tamiya frp chassis and shock stay's it will reduce some weight tamiya also has hollow carbon gear shafts not the propeller shaft i heard it breaks easy, aluminum pressure plates for the rear ball diff, titainium screws, aluminum king pin's, Just some of the things i did to mine and it's fast as **** and handles good. hope this help's oh i saw some aluminum a-arms on ebay for it not sure if there still there they were made by KOSE.

Dang... that esc must do you wonders... i had a 610 Novak esc but i had put the wires on wrong and it went nuclear :( it was a nice one... but that was a loooooong time ago... i'm planning on putting a cyclone in my TL-01... i want it to be a serious race car... i got a 13t platinum speedgem in it right now...

So what other options do you have on your TA-02?

tanga

TA03drive,

what ESC do you use in your TA02? how many T's do you use in your spur and pinion gear? and what is the best combination of mod motor and ESC? i want to make my TA02 really fast!!!

Billy
05-30-2001, 03:50 AM
Yep for an older esc it work's great i tried a 14t speedgems and a reedy 15t quad motor but i kept wrecking my car and there wasnt a whole lot of it left after a while so for now i decided to stick with stock motors. Sound's like your TL-O1 is going to be one fast hotrod.. :p

TA03 Drive Hard
05-30-2001, 06:41 AM
For my TA-02, i'm using LRP Sport w/reverse, but right now she's in "the shop" for an overhaul... it's in New Mexico right now... i left it there but i plan on goin back this july and hopefully i can bring her home... the speed tuned gears were givin me problems and the rear ball diffs were also a major prob too... but dont get me wrong... when she's runnin... she goes fast... even with a chameleon 19t... it's really shweeeeet ;)

Also... a 21t pinion and a 15quad speed gem would do just nice in that chassis...

a Novak Fusion or Dually would be perfect match

TA03 Drive Hard
06-02-2001, 03:53 PM
Hey i got that FRP set too

Billy
06-03-2001, 05:49 PM
It's a nice chassis compared to the stock tub or i should say stock rock collecter :D

TA03 Drive Hard
06-03-2001, 06:42 PM
The FRP chassis really makes my 02 fly... i mean i ramped it off street curbs and MAN  did it do 720 in all directions  it took a beating but kept on rolling :D but i think i gotta get a new one... well at least build one from scratch... like ordering the parts separate

Guys, I'm going to move this thread to the Vehicles section titled "Tamiya TA02 forum". It seems it would be much more appropriate there.
