i got the smc ib4200 6-cell 4200 NiMH Stick pack and it says that they should be charged at 6.0A rate. I have the superbrain 959 charger that only charge a max rate of 4.5A would this hurt the battery to be charged at a lower rate?

nope, wont hurt anything. I would suggest charging the pack at like 1-2 amps for the first 5 or so charges to properly break in the pack. After that it should be safe to charge them at 4.5 amps.

These batteries do not need to be broken in by charging at low rates. They are cycled and matched at 6 amps, and ready to race or play with right out of the package. 4.5 amp charge will not hurt the battery, it will just take longer to charge. If you are not going to use the battery for more than 2 weeks, I suggest putting about 10 minutes of charge at 4.5 amps in the battery. This will help keep the battery's capacity from dropping.

My charger, with NiMh, It charges 2-3% lower of the mah and shuts off. and let it trickle to the mah rateing. I dont think a .20ma would make a differance, just check the temp of battery pack
