Is there anything special that I should know before I start assembly, or has Associated done a good job with their instructions?
There might be some tricks to share that aren't in the instruction book.
Thanks,
MS

OK before you start to put it together, Go to the classifieds section in here and put it for sale and get you a yokomo mr 4tc.
WOWWOWOW , thats weird abouta mounth ago i was on the tc3 wagon, now that i got rid of my tc3 and got a yok, im saying yok all the way, shows you how people will stand behind there cars, to you clod owners out there. j/j
The car is really one of the easyest i have ever assabled. but if this your firs ae car , read the manual a couple times for the shocks. there alittle tricky some times. other then that everthing should go smoothly.

Thanks ro the reply Ne-Gosh. I've been building Associated's since the 70's, which is one of the reasons I went with it instead of the Yok, and am more concerned with the little things that arn't in the manual. All of the little tips and tricks that might make things easier as far as assembly and better in regards to performance. Basically, I'm just trying to leach off of eveyone elses hard earned experience.
What do you like about the yok over the Associated, other than the building experience?

i think that belts are horrible, they stretch, they can get debris in them.... i just dont like em...
but its not really a building tip, but a suggestion, you should get some brp nerf wings, and front and rear bumpers, you will save a fortune from the amounts of a arms you dont have to buy.

whin you put the stering rack compress the servo saver spring a fue times with a pair of pliers and use the black greese on the moving parts this will save you a possable change of gears in your servo

LOL! So I see I'm not the only person that thinks Hara looks a LOT like a girl. Reminds me of Pat (SNL)...

I think you should get the aluminium screw kit and maybe aluminium dog bones so you dont have to put together your car then disassemble it to but hop ups on.

Actully, Stormperson, Associated fixed the A-arm design flaw long ago. I have a Tc3 (hence the name) and i have broken absolutly NOTHING racing for over a year

When I rebiult my shocks i figure if they all come out at about the same rate then there shouldn't be a problem. But if they don't come out at the same rate there there not all equal so some might be stiffer than others or softer.

Thats what I did. They all rebound at the same rate and I tried to get them to rebound as slow as possible with full extension. It was the only time consuming issue in building the car.

I thought the FT TC3 (the one I bought) has just about everything I need?
I built the car this weekend (minus electronics) and all wnt very smoothly. I have one question regarding the shocks, Associated says to asseble with enough oil so the shaft extends all the way 'very slowly'. What is their idea of 'very slowly' i.e. transit time in seconds?
Thanks,

The most important thing to do that is not in the instructions is to be sure that your bearings inside the diff cases are able to spin freely! Do not tighten the diff cases or any other moving part too tight, allow for some play to free up the bearings. Also, if you remove some of the diff case that flanks the bearings you will be able to adjust your gearmesh within the diff cases! Use shims to space the mesh. Be careful with your work, this is a touchy part of the car, but will improve speed and run time. Also, clean your bearings BEFORE assembly. Then replace the oil with trinity bearing oil. Good luck.
