Most of the info need is on our Website in the Forum section.
http://www.midmichiganrc.com/

I just wanted to let everyone know that we are taking applications for the Preferred Races Cards. Existing card holders from last year NEED to renew their card By April 30th to continue their Discounts from Mid-Michigan Coin & Hobby. Applications will be taken at the Hobby Shop. We are going to be putting a Cap on the number of cards given out to the first 60 applications received. So get your Cards A.S.A.P.

The price is as follows:
$30 for a single
$45 for a Family (Family of 4 Max.) Immediate family only!!! No Cousins Aunts, Uncles, ETC.

Discounts with these cards are as follows:
10% Discount on parts from Mid-Michigan Coin & Hobby
$10 for first entry $5 for every entry after.
Free Practice 7 days a week
Kids under 12 races free (After first entry is paid for.)

NON-Card holders prices are as follows:
$5 a day for practice
$15 for first entry $8 for every entry after

There is a few PPL that are Grandfathered in their Preferred Card prices, Due to their early subscription to the race track. Most PPL know who they are and the list of those are at the hobby shop.

For the time being we are going to be holding a few races and practices here at the old track. We are going to do a little addition to the track for now until the new track is built. Our goal is to have our first race on May 6th but with the way the weather is, we just might have some races sooner. I will keep everyone posted if we do!!!

Any further questions feel free to call Kevin 810-564-2646

I am taking a survey to determine if there is sufficient interest in the mid-michigan (Gladwin) area for a new track. I have approx 5 acres that I am thinking of dedicating to tracks as well as a 5 acre pond to have boat races. Pass the word...if there are enough responses I will begin construction. Thanks.

My son and his friend got me interested in the prospect of an RC track while they were running their cars in the yard...I asked where the nearest track was and they didn't know. I looked online for tracks and the ones I saw were small and didn't look like you could really open them up (the cars I mean)...with 5 acres, I could build a cpl of tracks...off road type...drag race strip, etc...but I have to know if it is something the RC community would support. And the pond has an island that could be a great staging area for boat races. I hope it pans out....spread the word!!

Yeah I wouldn't mind a track up there either. We are usually up there once a month and usually more during the summer months. Keep us posted weather it happens or not.

You will probably not get much response about the track untill you build it. Before I built my track I only had like 5 PPL interested. Now I bet I will have over 80+ PPL this year.

80+ at each event? I thought if it was run like a regulation track with entry fees, time trials, prizes etc..that it may be worth the expense. Of course, my primary interest is $$, it would have to be profitable.

Ok I will tell you this much. If you are looking to do this to make money. You will have problems. However you will make your money back you invested over a short period of time. As far as the money part goes. I don't make a penny over my investment. THe reason being is I am always upgrading something to the track. Sooner or later once the track is the way I want it, then I could start thinking about making money, But with me I do not choose to take money. I am going to make the prize pots bigger. But if you are trying to make money right away and opt out of fixing the track up then PPL will get board of the track and sooner or later they will stop comming to race. I have seen this too many times with tracks, so I just thought I would forewarn you before you decide to get yourself into something like this.

Ask Z-Man I am sure he will agree. He is planning a bash this May and I am sure he is not planning on making money. if anything it might cost him more to put it on. But if he does it again then he might make out better the second time. But all I can say is DON'T plan on making money right away!!!

Just like any business venture..profit is not something you look for in the first year or two. Just breaking even is about the best you can hope for...

As long as you have that attitude right there. Then you should be fine. I just get guys here all the time say they are going to build a track too. They see the money that comes in but they never see what goes out. I just tell everyone GOOD LUCK!!! I never get mad or feel like I am going to have compatition because they usually never get it off the ground or they get too GREEDY and nobody wants to go there. SO the best I can say is just be positive, Keep the prices low and it should pay off in the long run. Don't try to make your money back the first race. Seeing up there if you make the prices too high it might scare PPL away. Myself I don't understand PPL's thinking, they spend a ton of money on their RC but they complain about spending $15 for an organized race.

well, if ya decide to buidl the track, I will be more than happy to donate as much time as i can for track prep, ect. As Nascar said, I dont see making a dime on the bash, in fact, i think i will be DEEP in the red on it! lol..

but hey, its for fun.

pm me if you want to go over anything, and let me know what i need to go buy for a race vehicle:D

appreciate the input guys...I don't currently live up there and if this were to get underway it would depend alot on my son and his other RC friends...but this is all just in the research stage at this point. I will talk more with him and start investigating start up costs, permits needed(if any), liability insurance etc...thanks again..I'll keep you posted
