I know their purpose. Are they just small pieces of shrink tube? Who makes them? Do they work and last? http://www.plauder-smilies.com/wavey.gif

No, Pin Cushions are little pins to replace the ones in the CVD bones on the TC3(& possibly other TC's or other cars that use CVD's). They're made of a different material & may be a bit thicker, so they fill the outdrive slot better, & because they're not metal they don't cause any premature wear on aluminum outdrives(which are more sensitive to damage than the original steel ones), & Irrgang Racing Service(IRS) is the company that makes them. They also sell them already installed onto composite CVD bones for a very similar price to the originals..... :)

I just ordered them for my B3. I was actually hoping that it was something that would fit over the end of the dogbone to make a tighter fit. I just don't feel like taking the pin out yet (and I don't see how the pin will come out... looks like one piece to me).

That pin doesn't come out. It is one piece. They should fit the B3's stealth outdrives, right? I heard Robinson Racing makes something like this as well. Is that correct?

Are you sure the dogbone pin doesn't come out? In the instructions, it tells you to use a hammer and punch to remove the pin. Then you slip in a plastic pin, and then a steel one inside of the plastic. If the pin doesn't come out, how are you supposed to use it?

Yeah, the pins come out... These cushions are a great idea, but I've yet to try them.

Thanks Nairb. I'm too lazy to take my car apart. I'll put them on during the off season when I do my complete tear-down and rebuild (haven't rebuilt my shocks of differentials in the two years I've had my B3). You think they would make something easier that fits over the pin. I know the XRay T1 is going to have something like that.

Ooops. I guess the pins do come out. Looks like a pain in the arse though.
