a few weeks ago i posted a thread about when i was racing my motor in the last three events would stop working after i would like hit a pvc pipe or another car.
Every one said to get it trued. So im getting a comm lathe on my b-day june 11. (so what are yall going to get me?) any ways. I got my car all gussed up, dropped in a Trinity Midnight 2. (i was previously running a reedy pulse r 10 turn when it first started to happen)
I dropped it in, very used, started running my tc3 on the carpet in the back room, i ran into a table, not even very hard, and it stoped working like before. so i got it turned the throttle trim up on my remote and hit the chassis a few times and the motor started again.
So what might be going on? Im running a V6 speedo, practicly brand new. Might it be the speedo? or this motor needs trued too? This is getting very annoying.
please some one help me!

My guess would be something in the speed control is loose, a good hard hit knocks it free, and another makes it connect again. I hit stuff all the time and my motors never cut out. Unless the motors is just slap wore out, I don't see how cutting or trueing would help anything. Try replacing the esc and see what happens.

Check the crystals in the receiver, sounds like something is loose. If you changed plugs make sure the leads are in the plug all the way.

What kind of plugs are you using? If your using stock tamiya plugs change them to deans or trinity. I doubt your using them becouse your running lrp. Hows your plug job? Did you make a good conection? Also take a look at you reciever, that is most likly your problem. If you have an extra throw it in there in test it out.

Check all your soldered connections. That just happened to a friend of mine, his positive wire was loose on the motor tab.

im using deans on my LRP cant take my soldering iron to the track. I have a good connection. i resoldered the wire to the motor tab the other night.
this ***** , that ESC is only like 3 months old...

I once had the same problem, it was a loose copper watt bar from the batteries. Because I crashed the car very hard and the watt bar detached from my battery. If the watt bars don't make a good contact to the batteries the car will act exactly as you described.

Mav, you can't rule out that the speedo might be a dud out of the box - it shouldn't, I know, but sometimes things just happen.
That said, it could be a bad crystal in the receiver - can you replace it with a different one of the same channel, or try a complete new set ?
Also, there could be something small and metallic floating around inside your speedo or receiver - like a small blob of solder (or a rock with high iron or copper content - a problem for off-roaders generally). I've worked in electronics for 20 years and I've seen it before - a small blob of solder that has spat off the end of your iron can cause intermittent shorts if it gets inside your device, or a small strand of wire that has fallen off where you've stripped a piece of wire to solder. Somehow they always work their way to the place where they can do the most damage or cause the most frustration - it's Murphy's law of electronics.
Dunno what else it could be. Unless it's mechanical - like the drive train getting jammed when you crash. Is it nice and free under normal circumstances ?
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Check the electronics like others stated. cck may also be right too. Loose battery bar(s) will cause intermittent problems. If it's a stick pack, take it apart and see if those cheap, thin metal battery strips have broken off or come loose. Gas guys have had those thin metal strips break off loosen off on their receiver packs causing problems.

ok, i just throught of something, when iwas at the track i hooked a battery stright up to the motor when it wasnt working and still didnt work, but i can recall if i accedintly used a dead pack,,,,
any ways, i just sent out a order for a new radio, upgarded from a Futaba Stick, to a JR XR2. Once i get my comm lathe, and this still happens, i think i have narrowed it down to the ESC.
On the battery bar tip, i use self built packs and normal stick packs, so its not just the self-built ones. this is really a pain.
any ways, if you guys think you mihgt know whats going on let me know

So you already replaced the brushes? The prob could be caused by extremely short (overworn) brushes.
All the other posts have covered anything I would think about checking.

now im really confused,,,,
I took it out yesterday so i could run some tests on it. ran it bashed it, wreaked it, Has any one in here ever seen a tc3 fly????
and it didnt do it again, maybe it fixed itself.
I once ran a tekin rebel through a mud puddle multiple times until it wouldnt work, let it set a few months and it worked again, maybe it fixed itself???

P.S. i sold that speedo so i can run test with it, the guy said it wokred great!

My guessing is that your motor brushes were bad... and since you changed them that fixed your problem  ;)

I don't know very much about things like that happening. Never has happend to me yet. Just off the top of my head it might be a hung brush.....check them and replace if thats the cause.
BTW my b-day is June 11th too. LOL :D

no, i replaced them and if kept doing it. Now it seems ok, maybe somehting was loose and got knocked into position again... i mean have you ever seen a tc3 fly? mine does! (only when rocks get stuck in the acerman steering and i cant steer the other way and hit the curb)
cool badracer, maybe we should go to chucky cheeses or something and have a party :D
