Ok, Im REALLY loosing my patience with these farking stock diffs in my revo. Since the first week after owning and driving me truck, i've had nothing but leaks with my differentials, even after breaking in on concrete the first time. I've had to replace 4 diffs the last 3 months in both rear and front cause the silicon o-rings keep tearing and leaking!!! I called Traxxas a month after I bought it and they had no info on what to do but sent me a whole bunch of diff rebuild kits for free. I've been talking with my LHS guys cause yesterday I found my front diff was leaking AGAIN after just replacing it a week ago!!! I thought maybe that the dry teflon spacer and gear shaft was wearing them out so I put on lithium grease all over the shaft, teflon spacer and o-ring. I was fine for a few days but after heavy practicing on the track and hill climbing, the front is leaking again!!!!!

He said that possible the stress from heavy driving is causing the diff cup to flex and pinching the silicon o-ring and causing it to fail prematurlly. I suggested that may wanna try upgrading to hardend steel diff cups from Maximizer. They won't flex and are alot studier and may solve my issue. Another one of my local drives said that there gonna leak somewhat and not to worry about it. I asked what about the change in oil weight as a result of oil lose and changing my differential output. I just kinda shrugged. What do you guys think is going on and what can I do here? Rebuilding diffs is getting really freaking old

yeah if i were you i would get an aftermarket diff, ive seen many people deal with leaking Revo diffs and never being able to fix them, find a manufacturer that possibly makes complete diff kits and get one.

that aftermarket diff looks pretty sick, but it sounds like the o rings on the diff are not being pre lubed before you install them. That is the usual cause.

I have no experience with the Revo, but have read a little on it. One such issue I recently read about was diff leakage. What was suggested...
Get some AE Green Slime. Coat the outdrive liberally before sliding it into the diff cup. Take care to get the Slime on the o-ring.Now,fill the back side of the main gear with diff fluid...the holes in it. Place it onto the outdrive, seat it correctly onto the pin. Then fill the fluid only til it covers this gear. Let that assembly sit for a while to let any air escape. Now complete assembly as per normal...placing the cross pin/gear assemblies in. Now top this off with fluid...but only to the cross pins. The thought process here is that since the Revo diffs are so small , when assembling everything together at once, this allows air to get behind the two main gears. In normal 1/8 B/TRuggy style diffs, this isn't as much of a concern, but the air behind them is with the smaller Revo diffs.Again, I don't run a Revo,so I can't say personally...but it's worth one more shot, doing it this way, before spending more $$$. Also, if Trax offers this, get a complete new set of o-rings and gaskets for the new rebuild. Good Luck :)

I got tired when my revo 3.3 was leaking. I just sold it because I was stressing.
