I just drove through a 2400 battery pack, with a 13x2. The run time seemed good, probably 5 to 10 minutes. The motor seemed pretty hot, though. I could touch it for a few seconds, but no way could I hold it, is this a good temp? or too hot? No bluing on the comm, it actually looked quite good.
Thanks,

Your motor is too hot when the endbell melts. (it happened to me once)
to make it run cooler you can put a smaller pinion or a bigger spur on.

Actually, that sounds about right, joeRS4MT. When geared for racing, the motor can definitely get uncomfortably warm, but the big thing is how thw comm & brushes look. If they're ok, then you're in good shape.... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

the endbell is the molded (usually) end of the motor where the brushes are installed and the motor wires are attached.

If you hava access to a temp probe get the temp of the brush/comm juction and it should be around 140-150. I've seen many electric races use this technique to gear their motors accuratly. It's the same princible as using the temp gun to tune nitro engines.
