I've heard that oiling them doesn't do any good, that after 5 minutes or so, you are actually worse off than if you hadn't oiled them. I tried running mine without oil, and afterwards the brushes and comm looked much better than they did when I was oiling them.
So what is the best method?

I race offroad and they are not worth it. My one brush got gummed up after one run and the motor stoped. I don't use comm dropps any more.

I have used trinity comm drops, and nothing has happened bad to me, no gumming up, but, of course, at the end of the race, i did not have the punch that i did at the beginning, but it helps me get the holeshot, or at least out in front of others
comm drops are terrible, do nothing but cause problems and speed your motor up for 5 seconds.
