Hey,

In one of the past RCCA articles I saw an article that gave a method on how to increase RPM's on closed endbell motors. Does anyone know how to do this procedure? Also how much more RPM's should I expect? I am working with Drill motors.

Thanks

i don't think that there is a way to speed up that type of motor, except putting a bearing oil on the ends. you also could try com drops that will speed up the motor. i suggest you get a new motor cause those type of motors are naturally slow.

If you're buying new, I once read in RCCA that you should get a look at the motors armature through one of the brush hoods. If the slot is farther to the left side, the motor will have a higher timing and higher RPM's.

hey guys,

someone in the other post i typed told me the process I was looking for. Its when you run the motor under water for like 2 mins, then lube up the bushings, then dip it againe for another 2mins, then lube it up then let it sit in denatured alchohol for a while, then let it dry. What it does is that it breaks in the brushes, that way you get the more power since the brushes make better contact with the comm.

Yeah, what that does it change the timing on the motor, but these motors dont let you do that. Thanks for the input though.

Hey dude... you're right about the procedure in getting increased rpms from a closed endbell motor... Johnson 540s are the best last i heard next to the Mabuchi 540s... when doin the steps it's expected to get a couple more thousand rpms... RCCA wrote an article on it on how to go about it... good luck =D

What is denatured alchohol? How well will it run without doing that?

How far should I dip the motor into the water? Fully in or up to the endbell or something?
