Does it seem like there is lag in the amount of new products coming on the scene this spring as opposed to last spring? Maybe it is just me, or maybe it is still too early for a lot of new stuff coming out. Either way, I just thought I would see what everyone’s thoughts were, and see if you all have the same feeling about this that I do. It just seems like last year at this time there were all kinds of new RPM products, new vehicles (minis), tires and wheels, etc. coming out every day. Again, maybe it is just me, but I don’t think so! Your thoughts?

As for me, it is a specific want for a new product that I starting to think will not exist….at least for another year or two. The mythical creature….The Electric Powered Revo from Traxxas. That is my unicorn, my “Eleanor”.

Im sorry but i think there is plenty coming out, The 8ight and now the 8ight.T,,, the M1B. Stampede and Rustler updates.. Recoil, Firestorm, E10, GT2, soon the RC8.. and others.. some may be out for like 3 months, but its still within the season. Maybe a little more could be good, but as ive been following the 1/8 offroad scene, there seems to be an explosion of stuff..

Maybe it is not enough new stuff in the area of RC that I am into. You nitro guys have to be geeking with some of the new stuff! Plus, it does look like some really innovative (M1B, 8ight) stuff that you guys are getting! I am just wishing for that kind of releases in the electric end of the spectrum. I envy you fellas for getting some of this new stuff! I am not complaining by any means, just seemed to notice a slow down. Thanks for your $.02!!

This is something I just don't get. IMHO, Traxxas- at least until now anyway- has really dropped the ball. People have been screaming, crying, begging, etc etc etc for an E-Revo since the original 2.5 release. Im neither a Trax fan nor hater...but I'm really surprised they still have not come out with something. Maybe they're waiting for LiPo to advance a little more?

Losi has a lot of stuff coming out, like mini lst2 and the 8ight. But team associated nees a new truck imo, and so does traxxas. Traxxas needs a whole new type of truck, maybe a mini and catch up with everyone else. HPI has the new X ss kit and firestorm. I can see this year being a pretty good one, equal to last year or even more.

Well I have to agree with Chachi. I have noticed a lack of new stuff, at least stuff that interests me. All the new stuff seems to me like all 1/8 scale nitro stuff, like the 8ight and 8ight-t. There is very little coming out that is usefull/interests me. I'm not putting the 1/8 nitro stuff down, it is cool and all, but i'm just saying there is not much new stuff that I can take advantage of. I'm more of an electric guy right now, and the market is nitro right now. Alot of the electric stuff coming out is the high-powered racing cells and competition electronics. I'm not much of a racer, and I dont have the money to afford that stuff. Maybe people like me are just a minority, and the majority of rc-ers are buying the bigger nitros. Although maybe this is a good thing, less impulse purchases :D

You must mean AE needs a new monster truck because they just released the GT2 and the T4 is still fairly new and very competetive.

I can't beleive nobody has mention anything about touring cars...
Losi JRXS Type R
AE TC5
Corally Phi
Schumacher Mi3
Robotronic Avid
Xray T2 007' (kinda new it's been out for a while)
pretty much all tourers are new but that's happens every year.

As far as electrics go there is plenty coming out if you look at brushless and lipo. That is pretty much anybody is talking about over at RCTech. No new offroad stuff though.

Exactly!!! A lot of it all has to do with marketing. The holidays mean big money for the RC industry, so many companies will try to have new releases out before the holidays. I.E. during the winter months.

Yes, that is what i mean. Seriously, associated, traxxas has more monster trucks than you.

Um, maybe some new stuff that most of us can afford. Which is quite nill. Other than the HPI E10 but it seems it won't be released in the US.

For some reason, I don't think Traxxas should come out with a mini, I just have a feeling that people will have more interest in the current options. I could be wrong though, perhaps swayed by how much I want a MLST2.
I do think they should come out with something though, I would love to see some competition for the 5b, or even an eighth scale buggy, despite the fast the I personally have no interest in one right now.
I am one of those people that has no money to buy new things, but feel the need to demand a constant stream of them anyway. So let's go people, start pumping out some more stuff I wish I could have!

Yeah... SMibs true a traxxas mini would not be very good, i love minis but i love the fact that traxxas makes 1/10 machines and Mts.

traxxas needs a mini and an electric revo
and associated needs a more competitive monster truck

I think they should come out with a J.A.T.O. system for the Jato. 0-70 in 2 seconds!

I fully understand the marketing for the holiday time of year because a lot of dollars are spent then, but with that said, marketing to your “season” is even more important. For example, they don’t sell many motorcycles and convertible cars during the winter months, so they focus their advertising and their special sales/deals in the spring and summer. Our sport (that is now what I call it instead of a hobby) is primarily a spring/summer/fall sport, and the winter is a down time. Of course where you live makes a difference in that as well. You California guys don’t need to rub it in about your weather either! That where I am coming from when I say that it seems not as many new products are coming out this year. It just seems that now is the time to be bringing this stuff to market because a lot of people are getting ready for the driving season. Dry, warm weather! YEAH! Someone did mention a lot of new stuff that Traxxas is doing, but that argument has many times that they really didn’t bring new stuff to the market this year (so far, I hope). Yes they re-vamped some of there vehicles, but I don’t know if we should call it new. The only thing that I was thinking, is that it is still early in the season, and we have months of good weather for bashing and racing ahead. Come on RC companies…..show us the money!

Well it is good to some new stuff hit the ground recently. The Novak BL motors may be a sign of things to come. Plus with RCX coming up, maybe companies wait for this to release some of the new products.

Did Novak bring out the EVX in the EMaxx first, or did it come out on its own to begin with, then be put into the EMaxx?

Smib
03-29-2007, 08:46 PM
I believe it was first brought out in the E-Maxx. I seem to remember reading somewhwre that Traxxas was part of the development in some way.

You guys do know that gorillamaxx makes a conversion to turn the revo into an electric truck. Downside to it is that they say you need both a revo AND an E-maxx to pull it off.

It's also very expensive, even if you bought that and then just the pieces to finish it separately.

Hey guys, the new Nitro Stampede and Rustler came out too like just now... I think this proves further more that there are a bunch of stuff coming out.. Like the New Electric pede, rusty, the HPI E-Savage ( but that doesn't really count ) the New 5.2 TNX, there is gonna be a new MGT too, the 8ight, umm... the Raze. So many cars now.. its Insane its like a baby boomer year except its for RC cars.

"New" for nitro, "Revised" for electric. I rest my case.....for us electric guys any how.

RCX must have kind of boring for this year! Sure doesn't seem like a flood of new products for this year like we had last yer. I know last year was mini-dominated, but still just seems like a lcak of new stuff this year. Any thoughts?
