JES 40-3P Opto, Lipo Compatible?

I just bought my first ESC. A Jeti JES 40-3P OPTO. I will use it with a 30/3 Phasor in a sailplane.

This ESC has no BEC, states 6-16 NC but says nothing about LIPO on the data sheet. This is New old stock. Dealer told me a 2-4 cell Lipo was compatible and the unit would sense the battery type.

Does anyone know for sure. Please and thanks.

2-4 Lipo compatible with the protection of a Li-Saver for Opto unit. $25
This ESC does not have the voltage cut-off protection that a newer one may.

Also, one should be careful not to use enough Lipo cells to overspeed and damage a lightly loaded engine.
