can someone explain how the motor works?
is a 12 turn or 20 turn faster and why?

very well!

but seriously, do you want to know how the rating system works? or how a dc motor actually takes electrical energy and puts it into rotary energy?

since the former is easier I will explain that unless you ask for the latter. The "turns" is the number of times the wire is wrapped around the arm. the lower the turn the faster because the armature has less weight to spool up. now usually when you see a mod motor rated it will say something like 12X2, the first number is what I already explained, the second number is the strands of wire that were wrapped around 12 times on the arm. the higher the second number is, the less torque but smoother the power curve.
it will still be as fast as a lower second number over all.
SO

rpm of 12X1 = rpm of 12X4
but
torque of 12X1 > torque of 12X4

and

rpm&torque of 12X1 > 27X1

that should help you at least start to seem like you know what your talking about LOL :D

i just got a rustler and i think i got a "MONSTER" 27 t motor

the monster stock motor you got with your car is actually a very very good motor! Torque wise they are increadable, need very little attention compared to mods!

The weight of the wire because of the turns is not entirely how there is a difference in power.................

Yup, less wire of the same gauge (or larger gauge) has less resistance. Less resistance allows more amperage. More amperage means a greater magnetic field can be created. There's a lot of things to go into.

The summary:

Lower turns are generally "faster" than higher turns. That's a SUPER GENERAL rule. Take it with a grain or five of salt.;)

Handfull of salt is a little more like it :P

cool how do you guys think i should equip the rustler?I currently own 3 nitro trucks just stumbled into electric this past week.I would like to make this truck faster.I was wondering if these things can do a wheelie from a stop after hopped up.

if you want easy wheelies go brushless. I recommend a novak 5.5.

Whatever floats your boat mate.;) (You know I'm right...)

Anyways, I suggest brushless. Mamba Max systems are selling for cheap now (but aren't cheap quality wise), and are POWERFUL. My Rustler is a little heavier than a stock Rusty (has a big honkin' Swami Bar on the back) and it wheelies from half throttle on 6 IB4200WC cells (If I didn't have a wheelie bar, it'd be on its lid whenever it finds traction).:D I run the MM5700 geared 20/87 for this too.

My 50 bucks.;)
