Is there any soldering nesessery? If so, how much? Im new at soldering, and I have a soldering iron, do you think a beginner can do it? Thanks. Any information would be great.

Soldering can be a big part of RC cars. However, it is easy to work around this. First, make sure your speed controller has Tamiya plugs for the battery and bullet connectors for the motor. Make sure any batteries you buy also have a Tamiya connector (95% of stick packs do). Finally, make sure your motor has bullet connectors and capacitors soldered on. If the motor doesn't have bullet connectors, you can buy clip-on ones from Trinity.
You can start off without a soldering iron, but if you get involved with racing, an iron is a really good investment.

Whoops!
I just re-read your subject title. I thought you meant soldering in general. Oh well, here's the answer to your question:
It depends on the motor. Is the brush shunt screwed on or soldered on? If it's screwed on, just buy new brushed with an eyelet and screw it in the same place. If it's soldered on, buy new brushes (eyelet or no eyelet... your choice) and solder the end of it into the same place the old brush was.

How does that tell me anything about installing brushes? I want to know if I have to solder anything to install new brushes.

Oh. Ok thanks. Sorry for the confusion the first time. Hehe. We all make mistakes (even people with over 400 posts) ;)

You know, you don't have to buy a new motor to use screwed on brushes. There are two screws on all motors(that allow you to replace brushes) where the brush eyelet is screwed down, on a motor that has them soldered on you'll see a screw that doesn';t seem to serve any purpose, between the brush hood & the tab that the wires connect to, that's the one. Just undo that one, put the screw through the eyelet of the brush, & screw it back down. Also, I'm curious, exactly which motor are you using? It's possible the brushes with eyelets will work very well on that motor.... :)
