I'm looking at my brakes and the brake pad material looks much like automotive gasket material. I googled gasket materials and found that exhaust header type material to be similar in composition and also hi temp resistant, made from asbestos, the same as real car brake pads. Just sfter.
I know that header gaskets tend to harden up when exposed to heat which would even make them better as time goes on. If I can find the correct thickness, I will try these, who knows if this works or if it was already tried by someone else.
I also found a source for carbon sheeting at the right thickness to make pads from too. just have to figure out how to cut for patterns, as the supplier used CNC water jet to cut ($$$$)
Any comments?
