View Full Version : Nitro to electric onroad conversion
I have an 1/8 onroad nitro I converted to electric. Now what size brushed motor? 540? 550? 600? larger? For the moment I have a Trinity 550 Monster Maxx 21t in it. I have not ran it you but its got a motor.

i think an electric brushed MAY be a little weak for a 1/8 scale car, i have heard however that 19 spec turns have the greatest torque of brushed motors so it may be worth cheking out...
maybe a Mamba mac with a low KV rating would be good.

I am running an EVX with my matched IB 3800,s They top out at 8.79v or so. Now if I run a receiver pack thats 16+ volts I more then likely will have go with 550 or larger. Its battery weight that going to hurt!!! Go lipo(bummer) AAA cells??? But anyway will let you know how she runs.
Heres a pix. Yes I know and it will be fixed right IF I keep it.
More pix!! Car is fast!!!!! Needs better tires!!!!!!! 1/3 throttle is all I can get before spin outs .

Needs a brushless!
Needs a brushless! Can't aford it :( Plus the Lipo :( Just get one lipo keep the EVX? But anyway.....First "real" body on run today ran nice. 1/3 throttle just to get a feel all good You know those crappy looking belted tires take blacktop great! Hammered down on it the blanking one of the control side Deans solider came off of one wire  Slam!!! No damage :D So it will do about 35 LOL
new round of test today!!!!!

I think your best investment would be some better tires. lol
Is that an RC250? I bet a brushless conversion on an RC500 would be cool.
I am looking for a 1/10 scale 4wd to race dirt oval with and I have considered converting a nitro.
If I had a decent set of tires I would send them to you.

I think that would run fine with a brushed 550 motor if you don't want to spend the money.
See what it does. If it's not enough, go for a brushless system.
