I just started carpet racing this winter and figured I'd try it out but it's looking like that it's not for me but Im not sure whether to quit or not . Here are my reasons to quit->1.It's so expensive for my that at one time I was deep in dept 2.My friends and I have a tv show on our town's channel that we just started and I'm finding out that I'm behind with pc stuff so I would like to put my money toward pc stuff during the winter to keep my pc skills up to par. 3.My pc has not been upgraded for 2 years! Now the reasons for me stay in->1. The guys at the track want me to stay in there 2. I beat a guy that has been for carpet racing for quite a while 3. I like looking forward to racing on the weekends. I hope you guys can help me out, I've been literately pulling my hair out trying to choose what to do

Why don't you just "take a break" instead of outright quit? Sounds like you like carpet racing, but it's just a matter of finances that is the problem. Or...you could always race less often, but can go and watch and sit around with your friends just as much as you would if you were racing.

Compromise!

You seem to be indicating there are issues with time and money. That tells me you're ready to move on. Also, If you have to ask out loud? - Its time to quit. Or at least take a break.

Maybe racing less often or taking a break will help, but no matter what, don't sell all your stuff right away. It will cost you twice as much to get back in if you change your mind again.

no you're right.

Quit and spend your money on more useful things, like drugs.

I may be wrong but a Kilo of coke beats the pants off 5 years of RC any day.......

Take a break, or go racing less often. Do what you got to do with your other stuff, don't get rid of your rc stuff, when time and money allows you you can race more.

thanks for the replys! Yeah I'm leaning to the quitting side too. No, I don't and never will do drugs, a lot of people I know are potheads and it has pretty mush taken out their whole lives, it's dumb stuff in my opinion. I've been searching on ebay to see what my Xray T2 '007 US edtion is going for and it's looking pretty hopeful and... there's only 2 other guys selling the same car!

Oh please! Dude, we're all on it and we're just fine! See, all the cool kids are doing it! You're just a square! [/Heroin addict]

Anyways, I can't nor can anyone convince you to continue carpet racing. Save your stuff, and if you still don't want to carpet race, thats your choice. Do what you want - who knows, you might really have an urge to keep doing it in a week.

well my point was not to quit because you could be spending your money on more wasteful things, but w/e

I know RCRevolution, I'm just making it clear that I'm not a pothead or any other kind of drug abuser.

Stay clean all!

AS for quitting, sounds to me as though you have gone into the hobby with the latest and greatest gear and hence have little funds left...try to cut down on racing and do whatever else you want but only buy what you need to carry on racing...your not spending as much anymore AND you can carry on racing...

see the problem is I can't do both carpet racing and computer stuff, I would either have one or the other, it's just the way I am. Anyways I have made a final decision (finally after thinking about this for around a month). I'm quitting carpet racing. Now, I'm not quitting rc all together, I have a drift car and several other offroaders that I race from the spring to the fall. I thanks you all for your opinions, they mean a lot to me. Look for my car on ebay!

Oh one more question! One of the guys at the track gave me a motor that good but is on it's way out, should I sell it with the car or separately?

with the car, if you sell it sepporately and it dies then someone will be upset, sell it as an "extra bonus" with the car and it shud be cool.

alright, I was thinking that too but I wasn't sure. I'm going to sell the battery tape, a bunch o' spare parts, tire additive, 2 sets of tires, and the body I used too, oh! and of course the box the instruction manual and all that jazz. I'm thinking though to keep all my battery stuff and maybe going into electric off road since there's only 3 guys running them at my local dirt track. Hmmm...

what is the additive and what tires you running?

It's Paragon Ground Effects additive and indigo tires for the front and magentas for the back.

Dude, I've been in the hobby since 1982 started in 1/12th onroad, the offroad, 1/8 gas, oval (dirt, carpet, asphalt) and touring car. Not only do I have cars, but the support equipment everything from parts to test equipment - my work shop looks like a small hobby store.

In the beginning I raced 2-3 times a week traveling from my state to as far as New York and farther to attend some big events. But as time went on I began to sometimes loose interest, taking some time off here and there to keep things in perspective helps. The hobby can be expensive but look at which is most importat to you and decide - the hobby whether it is just backyard, club or regional/national competitive is not for everyone.

yeah, the only reason I race in the first place is because there is no one else around me that has an rc vehicle.
