I have been researching battery dischargers and have noticed that they offer different amp #'s. What is better, a higher number (20) or a lower number (1)? Why? I will be discharging Maxx Paxxs.
IMHO,
I prefer to discharge at a higher rate, 20 amps. From what i have read and experienced, my NiCads get "trained" to discharge at this higher rate, this means that more power is going through the cells to the ESC. The reverse would seem to follow this same line, if you have batteries that are used to discharging at a 1 amp rate, than they are not going to deliver an equal amount of power to the ESC. Does this makes sense?

Makes perfect sense. Thanks again IR!
No problem. I may be way off base, so if anybody else has info, please pass it along.
Do you actually teach?

Our 6th grade is in the process of making the move to the Middle School. I will be the 6th grade Science teacher there. I plan on incorporating the RC cars into my lessons and creating an after school RC club. It's good to hear that fellow teachers are on the board.

How are you going to incorporate RC cars? If your going to teach the physics part of handling, here's a good site to look at:

Hey Obi112, thanks for the post. I plan on using it during my physics lessons with my good old buddy Newton. Thanks again!!!
Great idea! We had a unit on areodynamics and I used several of my models to demonstrate bernoulli's principle and we also used microsoft flight sim with a yoke and rudders to give them the feel of flight and for the final we built our own balsa planes. It was a blast,.

That sounds like a great lesson. If you happen to come across the plans I would appreciate a copy.
I left them with a buddy of mine at the school. Since I'm not teaching anymore, I figured I didn't really need them. If I can dig a copyup somewhere, I'd be happy to send it to you. I'll let you know.
