I just got three packs of the Peak 3200 lipo's today and all 3 "hard cases" would easily open at the seam, in fact were not all the way shut. You push them back together, but there's nothing holding them together. Is that normal???? Doesn't look like they are a damaged in any way.......

yup normal...

The 4200 pack is held together by double sided tape on the cells and then there is a label raped around it. When the battery pack heats up a little (not HOT but just WARM) it activates the adhesive and allows it to spread out and hold better. If you have problems with the case coming apart during runs, then i would suggest that you put a drop of med CA glue on each end (not all the way around) which would allow the case to flex the way it should to protect the battery.

About the same time as you responded, I got confirmation on another forum. Well that's great news then, I was kinda worried. Great looking batteries, and light weight! Only 6.9 ounces according to my little digi scales. That's around half the weight of IB4200's. In a truck as top heavy as a Traxxas Stampede, I should notice a differance in the handling!

It's a "safety feature". When the cells swell (BAD in lipo), the case splits open and should break the label. In that case..you know something is wrong.

Anywho.:)
