It is pretty cool, but has weak/lame/sloppy/dumb suspension and other mechanical systems. You'd be better off with an HPI mini.

How tough is HPI's mini?

My dog was gnoshing hard on the m-chassis last night and only managed some light damage to the body.

I have a nitro RS-4, and if HPI's mini is similar, would rather have the Tamiya given the cost/quality difference between the two.

Part of my reasoning for this is I only use the car to bash around and for the dog to chase.

If you want the car for fun try the Tamiya. If racing is your ultimate goal, go with the HPI. I am sure upgrade parts for the HPI are far more plentiful than for the Tamiya.
