Some friends and I are going to race in an open class, and I want to purchase the best chassis out there for a reasonable amount of money. It could be 2WD or 4WD, but I wanna be able to kick my friend's PRO3 chassis's butt.
We will be racing on pavement in an oval track. Thanks for any input.

10L3 Touring
10L3 Oval
They're pan cars.
Either will smoke any touring car on an oval.
The 10L3 Touring will fit touring bodies too.
if it has to be a touring car (4wd) then the TC3 will do

I have an FT TC3, and its a beautiful machine. The other AE cars mentioned are lightening fast. Look at the May 2001 of RCCA to see the TC3 that cleared 90 mph and the 10L30 that hit 111 mph. I think you can also find it on the RCCA website somewhere as well. Does anyone know anything about the new Xray T1? it looks tight as **** in the may RCCA first look. I wanna get behind the wheel of it bad and see what its like.
later all

TC3 Team or Racer. the factory has too many parts that slow you down and dont increase proformance.

The best deal is the TC3 racer. Tower hobbies retail it for $149.99 plus if you buy an order over $150 you get $15 off, which means it only costs $134.99. I am going to get one very soon. FT TC3 is going to cost you up to $350. $350-$135=$215. If you like to upgrade the car later you will have plenty of juice.

On a prepped clean smooth surface a 2wd will smoke a 4wd but on your average parking lot track the reverse is true. Also, many tracks don't have a 2wd TC class. For fun and racing 4wd is the way to go.
I really like the HPI Pro 3. I should be getting mine in about 2 weeks or so. But I've heard a lot of positive responses to it. Race worthy right out of the box. Might be more than you wanted to spend. But it's a great car and you would (in my mind) better off with it than the TC3.

Roland.... Asking a question like that is like asking how long is a piece of string??
Everyone has their own idea as to what is the greatest car or anything for that matter. Why dont you go down to your L.H.S. and see what they stock, as parts supply is very important. Check out various reviews, buy a few mags. But remember what works for me might not work for you and vice versa. Just buy a car that you feel comfortable with and can afford to buy and maintain. :D
Team Losi Rally Weapon, its awesome for on road and off road, but up grade the shocks. You can get it for $105.89 from RC Car Kings!

Seems like the TC3 is the most popular car.
However, like gacjr0 said, shouldnt a 2wd car be able to smoke a 4wd car? At first I was leaning towards the RC10.

I would go with the T1 since you can dial in every thing on the car!so you could probably make it faster than the Pro3, but if you don't want one of those get the TC3
