Hey everybody. I have a few questions. First of all I have a triple X that has teflon sealed bearings. I have heard u have to clean these quite often. How often do I have to clean them and how do I do it. Is there a special spray? Second, I have a P2K motor that I love. The thing is really fast. Now after every race day and practice day I clean it. Will this affect my motor by cleaning it this much? Can you overdo cleaning your motor? thanks!!!!!

rpm makes a tool called the bearing blaster which is helpful for cleaning berings. I'm not sure about special spray but you can use motor spray. After you have goten all the dirt out re-lube the bearings. Cleaning the motor after every race is a very good thing to do and it will make the motor last longer rather than destroy it.

Agreed, keeping the motor clean is a good way to help it last as long as possible, especially if you also retrue the commutator & replace the brushes on a regular basis(no more than every 8-12 runs, perhaps fewer if you run very high-silver brushes). To tell if you need to clean your bearings, first take them out of the car & spin them, if they seem to still spin freely & feel smooth, then you may not need to do anything to them yet, only do it if they start to get gritty..... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hehe, i am so lazy when it comes to taking care of my bearings, after my stockers seaze, in go the red seals, either way, when you clean your motor, it is better to take the armerature completely out of the can, then you can really spray it down, and like bob said, get your motor rebuilt 8-12, and replace the brushes, try the trinity 4499, and my personal fav are reedy #767's, if none of those are there, go with trinity 4070's. I have not tried the team orion brushes yet, but i plan on it.

Ok I am completely stupid. This is the dummest question but here it is. When you guys say rebuilding your motor do you mean getting your comm cut or cleaning the motor out or does it mean replace everything in the motor?

Getting the comm cut, and replacing the brushes.
