does anyone here own or have owned one of these cool little cars.

They look like fun and use standard radios and ESCs.

I was interested mainly because the Mini-Zs only come prebuilt and with a lot of stuff I don't need. And the BRP's have clear bodies I can detail myself. And in addition the BRPs use foam tires and seem like they will handle much better, more like a pan car on carpet with their wide tires.

Has RCCA done a review of these? And what issue, I'd like to order the back issue or get a copy of the article if possible.

Let me know what you know about the Fun Wons. Thanks.

The BRP cars look cool. The Mini z's have a radio which is one more that I do not need or want. Kyosho would probably sell alot more of them if you could use any radio, it would cut the price by a fair bit.. I saw a video on the BRP web site, the cars look like they fly,

Steve's been peeking in my office again... The Buds cars are great because you can put virtually any radio, servo, speed control in it and still have a blast. They've got hop-ups that include ball diffs different tires and more... They're technologically simple and pretty darn rugged and the foam tires hook up well. If you're into TC's or NASCAR theyve got many of the popular bodies including the new Intrepid... (Go Elliot!!!)

are you doing a project or anything? but i love mine, i only got to run it once, its been either snow or frozen snow, and it just melted some today.

also does anyone know what upgraded motors i could get? like what motors work? and are fast with more torque?

The motors that are in the pictures look like 1/24th Slot Car 16D motors. In fact I'm positive those are what they are.

I plan on putting a box stock motor in mine for crazy speed runs. The cars are supposed to be about 9.5 in long and 4.5 in wide so it's a good size. I am making up some four, five, six, and seven cell AA packs for mine for all racing scenarios and all different combinations of runtime, speed, etc.

I hope to see these in RCCA soon. (hint hint) If you are trying to promote easy cheap R/c racing this is it. It's easier and chaeper than any "spec" class out there.

cheaper is a relitive term, i mean, to get these things up and running, you need at least $150 (from scratch). and batt's do cost less, around $30 for a nice 1500mah pack.

my only problem is the lack of real bodies, there are soooo many generic or just plain stock car bodies (even though they do look like all the 3 main real ones)

i would kill for a r8 body that small. or a gt3 porsche, they have the old one, but it doenst even have the right headlights, and it lacks decals, but they are cheap.

If you are paying 30 bucks for a 6 pack of AAs you are getting hosed.

I buy Sanyo AA Nicads off Ebay BRAND NEW for 50 cents each.

RASPBERRIES! My ISP is down for 2 days, and look what happens, i am back in 4TH, and steve is comeing up on 1000, and Hippie passed 600, i am the last to hit it, CRAP!

As for the subject, they use slot car motors?
SWEEET! because the things are so cheap! like less than 20 bucks for a hot one! So, these are the same scale as the mini RS4, now i am wondering if slot car motors will fit in those............

hey, steve, have you gotten any mini RS4's yet? I really want to see one, i plan on gettting some type of mini car, BRP, Mini Z, micro RS4 or whatever it is called.

I think it would be hilarious to put an open slot car motor in one.

A 200 dollar hand made open motor.

They make slots hit well over 110mph on a track.

I'd say they would be good for 40mph in a BRP car or maybe more.

Hit a bump and SMASH, recycled fiberglass.

XXXer:

You forgot the Kawada Tripmate in your list. That would be really cool to see in the mag a shootout or comparison article between those 4 mini cars. What do you think Bob of this idea? I would like also to buy one of them, but really can't decide.

very few people sell em, you can get em off ebay every once and a while, however some guy or hobby shop in japan called sunberries, sells all 3 (abc, kawada, and microstuff) 1/24 scale cars, as well as one with a suspenion.

i dont think its really fair to stick a brp and a tamtech, or a tripmate, or even a miniz together, they are very different.

and you really cant stick a miniz in with the 1/24 scale cars, they have a totatly different electrical system. its like compairing 1/12 carpet cars, to a 1/8 mt. (or with the brp's and 1/24's 12th onroad to 1/8 on roads)

sorta get the idea?
