Does anyone know what motor specs I should stay away from since I have the super hornet with mechanical speed control. I wouldn't want to waste money on a motor that is too much for my car to handle.
20T motor should be the limit, because one of my friends put 19T motor to Tamiya's speed control and burnt the speed control's wires.
I am pretty sure that P2K or GM3 motor can run much faster than the stock 20T motors.

Yeah, you should be able to put in a Stock motor (p2k, gm3, mvp) and be alright. You should definitely consider getting an ESC, you can pick one up for $40 or so, and it would be well worth it.

I would definitely stay with a stock motor. A modified will probably add too much stress to the gear case which is known for splitting. Ouch!

Is a stock motor the ones that do not say pro or dyno tuned? How do I know which of the motors are stock.
