View Full Version : Life Expectancy of a Battery
How long does a 1500mah stick pack normally last? (How many charge/discharge cycles or months etc.?) What are the things that normally happen to a pack that make you decide that it is dead?

As long as you take care of the pack it will last for many years.
I have 1500s that are (no lie) 8+ years old.
Usually they can take about 1000 charge and discharge cycles before a cell dies.
You will notice this by reduced runtime, and lsower speeds, and the battery will usually get very hot while charging and discharging. Sometimes it even refuses a charge and the cells vent their gasses.

I have a couple that are 10+ years. They're just now starting to fade.
Discharge them after you use em and take care not to overcharge.
I probably have 800 or so runs on my oldest.

they can last up to about 12 years
I’m obviously doing something wrong. I killed my first pack in less than a year. I built a light bar discharger but after reading other topics, I bet I left it on too long. How do you know when to take the pack off the light bar?
