Probably something with the "speed control/reciever" unit.

it would be hard to tell untill you start swapping things around, try the transmitter, then radio, the speed control

It's probably because you are kicking the wrong bumper. JK

The first thing to check is that nothing is binding. Try rolling it backwards and see if it goes freely. Also, check with a volt meter while you are trying to move the throttle and see if there is power to the motor. Alligator clips would be helpful to keep the meter on the wires.

If you don't have power, then it is in the control unit or the trim is too far forward on the remote (if it has trim knobs). If you have power and it reverses polarity when you press the remote the other direction I would say diagnose the motor further. Using a 9 volt alkaline and two small wires, try to get the motor to rotate. Then try the opposite direction. It might help during the testing to take the motor out of the vehicle so it isn't trying to run away from you.

Nikko uses circuit boards. U may need to change the circuit board that controls the speed and movement.
